So, I feel that the Midwest will eventually surpass the quality of what the east and west coast are doing right now if they haven't already. And that's not a statement out of hate, or whatever, I'm just tired of the Midwest taking very little recognition for craft beer, and it's enthusiasts. The world can barely compete with how awesome companies like , New Glarus, Three Floyd's, Central Waters, Pipeworks, Half Acre, Surly, etc, etc. I could go on for days. State again though, regardless of region I support the craft beer movement as a whole and love many east and west coast breweries.

Be that as it may, how do you feel? Very curious to see if I'm not the only one who thinks and feels this way.

I didn't think that many people weren't showing love for:

"companies like , New Glarus, Three Floyd's, Central Waters, Pipeworks, Half Acre, Surly, etc, etc. "

Plenty of love out there. haha. The great part is there are so many different things from all over the country, all over the world, that all have their unique aspects which make them great. I don't care where they are from, if they are good, they are good.

I'm not sure that any region of the country truly 'surpasses' any other region- I think that the brewing scene in different parts of the country tend to do certain things very well and in some cases better than in other parts of the country, but I don't think it's a coastal contest.

The Midwest has some world class breweries, however, I think that the majority of the hype machine breweries exist on the coasts. Since this is the case, people focus more heavily on those breweries.

We'll see how things change if King Sue overtakes Heady, but I generally believe that Midwestern breweries don't have as big of a nationwide hype machine as the coastal breweries, and for this reason, tend to get less attention from those chasing the next big thing

You're not allowed to use the word "hype" without the words "Dark" and "Lord." It's a rule.

I wish noone knew about Bell's Oracle, Black note, Hop Slam, Founders: KBS, Harvest Ale, Fathead's: Hop JuJu, IBUsive, Sunshine Daydream, The Brew Kettle White Rajah, Three Floyds: Zombie Dust, and Columbus brewing Bodhi. The OP needs to simma down na before everyone figures out the midwest makes some killer beers.

The love was in my mouth. But seriously. I think there is a ton of love for the midwest. The midwest beers just don't get to the east coast fast enough. I think distribution is key. PA drinks a ton of beer/liquids from midwest enough to create a man made river possibly all the way to the midwest location of your choice. I am not afraid to trade for midwest beers. Good stuff. examples: Central Waters, New Glarus, Three Floyds, and don't forget the wild wild mecha Jester King in Texas. Half Acre - when I see their stuff on tap, I always drink a few. Who's going to pass on Daisy Cutter.

What sort of Pennsylvania map do use that place Texas in the mid-west?

In my trading career I've traded for 89 beers. Of those 89, 39 have been beers brewed in the central time zone, between Texas and Ohio. And the only reason I haven't traded for more stuff from FFF, TG, Founders, Bell's, CW, and Kuhnhenn is that in the case of FFF and TG, nobody has accepted any of my trade requests, and in the case of the rest, they are distroed to my area.

I think anyone who has no love for midwestern beer just doesn't like beer.

I am extremely depressed that I can't make it to Madison for this year's Great Taste. What a glorious celebration of all things Midwestern + beer.
