From everything I can find on the internet is it not true that Cantillon Cuvee Des Champions and Cantillon Cuvee Saint Gilloise are the same beer. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks for the first.

yes, they are one and the same.

fantastic dry hopped lambic...if you have the chance to try it fresh (it was serving for in house consumption and bottles to go at Cantillon as of two weeks ago), I highly recommend it. When we wrre there Iris (not technically lambic) was also being served. They're a lovely contrast to the "standard" Cantillon line.

Anyway to put a line under the Cuvee Des Champions that they are one and the same beer? I would do that but do not know how to do it?
    Cheers

Why are these two beers listed as an alias then if they are slightly different? Just curious.

When I was at the Cantillon brewery last month I was told by Jean Van Roy that they are the same beer... he told me that he brewed the beer "Cuvee De Champions" when his hometown football (soccer) team won the championship of the league they were in... but they have essentially sucked in the last few years, so he felt he needed to change the name of the beer... he made no mention to me of changing the hops... this article generally agrees with me, but still questions the dry hopping... http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/blogs/oungandhungry/2010/06/03/cantillon-cuvee-st-gilloise-not-for-champions-anymore/

i heard the same story from Jean in 2012 and then again last month when they released this year's C St. G. same beer, just a change in name.

And also... Drink this beer. It's freaking excellent... It was my favorite Cantillon behind St. Lam...

Agreed it's a great beer. Drinking it head to head with the new release of Iris was great.

I was very pleasantly surprised how good St Gilliose is the first time that I tried that Loon!

I also remember this to be the only difference between the beers. But I may be confusing that with Pinot d'aunis and the zwanze version. They are the same in a sense that this is just a dry-hopped lambic.

Cuvee Du 89 is another cool example of a dry hopped lambic
