Distributors. (At least one of the suburban distributors is kinda quirky according to folk I've talked to at Binny's, smaller chains and indie stores alike.)

I guess I do not know enough about distributors. I would have assumed that the Binny's distributor would also distribute to other liquor stores in the city

It seems to me that the dirtiest part of the whole beer game is in the distribution. An unnecessary middle man that is required by antiquated laws to be used. Let the abuse of powers commence!

Looks like I missed Parabola at the South Loop Binny's, all 3 cases have been sold. If anyone would be kind enough to drop my a message to tell me where I can buy a bottle, I would greatly appreciate it.

As of right now, today? Nowhere. Monday & Tuesday the other Binnys in the city will get their allotment and it will go fast I'm sure. When will it hit the other liquor stores? Who the hell knows

So are you referring to the Binny's in Schaumburg, or just Binny's within the city? I don't mind driving, however there is a Binny's just a couple of miles from where I'm staying this week, it would be super if I could find some. I suppose I have plenty of trade bate back at home in my cellar, if I had to.

Sorry dunno about Schaumburg. Please, feel free to call and ask and post the information. It seems that usually the burbs Binny's get beer a week or so after the city Binny's, but that could mean this coming week so wh oknows.

Will do. I was going to stop by, until I found they closed about 15 minutes ago. I'll drop in tomorrow and post what I find out.

Firestone Walker is with the Miller network in Illinois, which has multiple distributors. The "hub", where the all the product gets shipped from FSW, is the distributor i buy from, as does South Loop, West Lakeview Liquors, Before You Go, etc. Product is then shipped from the "hub" to the "cluster", or other distributors. The product then needs to be received, inventoried, allocated, and shipped. As for why it only hit my store and South Loop thus far, that i honestly dont know. I assumed it would go everywhere starting Friday, per my tweet.

You have no idea how easy you have it when it comes to finding beer BECAUSE of the three tier system. Try finding the selection available here in Chicago somewhere like Canada. Or for that matter, Belgium.

As for the abuse of power, Breweries are not allowed to own bars, and thereby stifle the buisness of other breweries, BECAUSE of the three tier system.

I'd suggest researching the three tier system before slinging mud at it.

I look a lot like this.

I was talking to the buyer of a suburban Binnys and he said that not all stores will be getting Parabola. It's really up to that store's buyer and if that store moves enough craft beer to 'eligible' for an allotment of Parabola from the distro. He did say that the Chicago stores (LP, South Loop, Loop) move much more beer so they'll get a few cases each but the suburban locations, if lucky to get any, will probably just get a case.

But looking on the bright side, if a suburban Binny's does get a case and they don't have a huge craft beer following then chance that that case will last longer than an hour before it's sold out is much higher. Glass half full.

OK made a bunch of calls to Binnys. Heres what I heard today
    - Clark location - now saying that they haven't heard for sure if they are even getting any.
    - Grand location - Tomorrow hopefully
    - Schumburg - beer guy is out, but the person I spoke to said they are likely getting it "soon". Call tomorrow to talk to beer guy
I called a few other burb locations and they all have no clue when they are getting it. A few mentioned that since downtown just got it, Parabola might not hit the burbs for another couple of weeks.

This release feels quite weird to me. 2 stores get it and thats all for weeks?

Yes quite bizarre. I was up by Elmwood Park the other day when it hit. Called that Binny's and their beer guy told me end of June so I don't know what to believe.

It would be better for everyone if it all hit at once... with it trickling in, people will go out of their way to track it down, and it will sell out faster. But obviously, there's no control for this, and there's no one to blame. It'd also be better if I had a flying car and could shoot eye-lazorz.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to hit Whole Foods and Binny's in Schaumburg after my work thing, hopefully on my way to local option or haymarket. Will update everyone if I hear of something more definite, after I get my bottle of course... ha

I heard the truck for the other locations was robbed behind Armanetti's.

Thanks for replying to my post Vav. As an insider, it would certainly stand to reason that I could learn something here. However, despite a rather large lack of research on my part, I'm not quite ready to eat crow just yet. The very limited information that I have suggests that craft/micros are at the mercy of the big fellas. This would likely be due to the oligopoly they seem to have while serving their version of beer for the past century or so. From the perspective of a consumer who went far too long being overexposed to the message that the big3 sent out, that being that what they make is true American beer, I'm can be a bit jaded on the process. I traded in whiskey for beer after over a decade after finally seeing the light. As I ask questions to continue my independant study, the distribution of beer seems to be a bit of a gray area that I am drawing conclusions towards being part of the problem. I'm not offended by some educatin', so feel free to correct any misperceptions that you sense in my thought process.

Sounds quite similar to a previous release called "Sucaba".
