Does Pipeworks have distribution to the suburbs? Either I miss them every time because I am blinded by the beauty of so many choices of beer, or they're not there.

don't think so yet. I think they are limited to about 11 or 12 stores that they literally deliver to themselves. they don't go through a distributor yet because they produce such small batches.

I will be in Chicago for a wedding and to celebrate my 40th!!! Around July 1st. Any info on finding some Pipeworks brew? As well if anyone wants to set up a person in person trade or to meet up for a few beers let me know. Sunday, July 1st hitting the Cubs game for my bday. Then staying on the North Side for a few days/nights. I really want to try some Pipeworks!
    Cheers!

if you'll be up in Lakeview, here are your 2 best options:

West Lakeview Liquors (definitely has the best selection of Pipeworks)

Binny's Lincoln Park (there is a Binny's in Lakeview as well, but I'm not sure if they carry Pipeworks yet)

Was at Binnys Lakeview today and they had at least 4/5 different bottles of Pipeworks.

    good to know, thanks.

and whoops, my above link went to the Lakeview Binny's instead of the LP Binny's anyway, so I'm an idiot.

Thanks for the locations. So if I'm there in 4 weeks, how often is their beer released? Because I'm assuming the beer would be sold by then?

just depends. I know West Lakeview Liquors gets a very large alotment each release. they usually have a release about every 2 weeks. so there may be some things leftover from recent releases and probably something new. Ninja vs. Unicorn usually sells out pretty quickly, but they release batches of those pretty consistently.

Blood of the Unciorn is a very good amber/red ale! Going to pick up a few more today or tomorrow.

As stated above, they release every two weeks. At least one beer, maybe two. Stores get a healthy amount, but it's hard to say what will sit on the shelves (Ninja v. Unicorn seems to fly off the shelves, deservedly so). One option would be to watch the website/facebook page/twitter feed for West Lakeview Liquors and buy the beer via their online store and just request an in-store pick-up.

And I should have said that the next two releases, if they follow the pattern so far, would be June 12 and June 26. Some stores will get beer on those days -- others will get it by Friday. The Lincoln Park Binnys (aka Castle Vav) will release any bottles to the general public that were held for, but not picked up by, Pipeworks' Friends with Benefits (their 'reserve society') on that Tuesday July 3.

I live close enough, but have never checked that place out. I may have to now. And they keep up-to-date on beermenus.com, which is always a plus:

Keep your eyes peeled this week -- another batch of NvU has been making its way to stores (along with Hyper Dog "now with more coffee from our friends at Crop to Cup".

    Coming up next:
CA$H 4 Golden Ale, a citrusy Belgian Golden weighing in at 10% ABV
Poivre Rose, a French Saison brewed with Pink Peppercorns

Also, a second batch of Glaucus should be in the coming weeks. Further down the line will be a slew of one off IPA's, including some with plenty of tropical and citrusy New Zealand Hops!!!

I haven't had the new batch of it yet (first with the new equipment, I believe). So I'm stoked to try it.

I grabbed some NvU at west lakeview yesterday but opted out of the hyper dog. Very delish!

wasn't too fond of hyper dog unfortunately. my girl loves stouts and porters. she wasn't too keen either. NvU was pretty good. really good.
