Hey Advocates - This might be a crazy broad question so maybe I can whittle it down for you. I'll be in Seattle Saturday and Sunday and looking to visit 2, maybe 3 breweries. Looking for comfortable, low key places for lunch/dinner that have good creative beers and decent food (BTW, good food to me includes "pub food"). What would you recommend?

    Thanks!

Not much of a grub spot, but Reuben's Brews is a pretty cool spot. Very small, cozy little brewery with a variety of awesome brews. Definitely a different vibe than a lot of the bigger tap rooms I've been to in the past.

Head to the Balard area, they have 5 micro to nano breweries in that area. I would say most make beers between 2.5 to 4.25 (only Maritime has food, and is in the top 2 for beer quality). Others outside of the Balard area are Elysian (has food) and Fremont (no food) are probably the best in the downtown area. There are no less than 10 - 15 above average places to get good beer and food + 20 taps around town. Seattle has a great beer selection

    One word, two syllables: Fremont.

    That is all.

I've got to second the vote for Fremont! No food there, but you can bring your own. Elysian was pretty good too.

Freemont, Two Beers, Standard, & Hilliard's and Black Raven if you end up across the lake. Elysian is good too, especially the food.

Ok I thought the food was good and the beer was solid. Granted this was a few years ago, but still.

Im just saying Rock Bottom is a chain brewery. No Harm No Foul. I'm not going to discount your experience.

As is my usual response: Naked City and Big Time. Fremont has food close, and the whole Ballard-Fremont are is full of breweries, some of which have food, some don't but have other options. But, Naked City. For reals. Others here have different opinions, but I think highly of their beers, and food is certainly on the better side of "pub grub".

It is, and our Rock Bottom here in PA is very solid beer and food wise. Just saying.

Not to be dismissive, but, the standards are a bit higher out here. I've been perfectly happy with the RBs I've been to (especially the one in Indianapolis, first time I ever saw cask beer, the bartender took the time to explain it to me, and it was damn tasty). I would just suggest checking out the actual "local" places than the chains. We've got plenty that do both well, and plenty that do either well, and will let you bring food to the brewery. Try the roast beef at Big Time, it's a good sandwich, but the beer will make you forget what you ate.

Awesome guys, thanks so much! Yeah, I've been to Rock Bottoms before in Indy and Raleigh, NC since the beer scenes in those cities are not as awesome. So definitely going to check out Fremont, Elysian, Reubens, and Naked City if I have time (and capacity to enjoy that much awesome beer).
