Any of you non-friday folks want to get together on the 20th?

    No problem.

Beerhive got back to me. We are confirmed for 7pm on Sept 26. We can move the time if that doesn't work for everyone. I have us down right now for 15 but can tell them more if needed. Very cool of them to host us. Looking forward to it. Might have to bust out some big guns!

I will be attending and am very much looking forward to it. I am Andy G on the sign-up sheet. Thank you for taking the time to put this together, HopFace!

I'm sorry - but what does the Food column designate? I had originally thought it was if we were bringing food, but after reading this thread, I feel like that may not be the case?

    Thanks!

Is your avatar from Home Alone 2? Haha, if so, that's awesome. Anyways, I think the food column is if you will be ordering food from a set menu from The Beerhive.

I hope I can make this. I've shared beers with a few posters who are attending, and would love to share a few more as well as meet some new Pittsburgh area beer drinkers. I was planning on going to either the Wisconsin (September 27th) or Ohio State (October 25th) football games up at Penn State this year. Hoping it's the latter weekend so I can make it to the tasting. I'll know after this weekend.

Sorry about that. You can disregard that column. Everyone is ordering off the regular menu. It's kind of how we are "paying" for this. Beerhive is cool enough to let us bring our own bottles but they are expecting us to order some food to make it worth their while. I personally think it's a good deal. It's not too often you hear about a BYOB bar. Hopefully everyone orders at least something small and we can make a good impression on the beerhive. I'd say even if you don't plan on ordering food, toss a 5-er in for a tip.

Got it - thanks! Just wanted to make sure I didn't show up empty-handed!

I live near the Beerhive, so I have eaten there quite a bit. I can vouch that their nachos are amazing.

Lots of knowledgeable names in this thread so I thought I'd ask: there is a small chance I find myself in Pittsburgh early afternoon for the Tigers game. Which brewery would you visit if you could only visit one, regardless of location, and being a big fan of IPA. Thanks for the help.

Of the IPAs I've tried in the city, I'd go with Hop Farm.

Roundabout would be my suggestion and likely 70% of the people here. I haven't been to hop farm yet so i can't comment but most I've talked to prefer roundabout.

Helltown for idle hands, or just go to fat heads and drink headhunter.

The owner/brewer Steve is from Detroit and is a big Tigers fan. Definitely go there and talk to him.

Might be too late, but for strictly local I'd recommend Roundabout's Pacific Ring IPA. There's a chance they might have the Unnatural Love DIPA on; which is also awesome.

But like someone mentioned earlier, the Fathead's Headhunter is the best in the city. Though technically brewed in Cleveland, Fathead's is originally a Pittsburgh establishment.

I think I may have to make an appearance for this.

I've come to accept that Pittsburgh can't claim Fathead's beers as "ours".

Semantics. I always claim Fatheads beers as our own. Between the first Fatheads being in the burgh and the brewing system coming from Troges might as well be PA beer

Is Sam Adams a PA beer?

Does it meet both of the criteria above?
