There have been Godawful sours sold by US brewers, just as there have been very good ones.

If we stick to talking about "American Wild Ales", about half of them are rated a 4 or higher. If there's some awful ones being made, the Beeradvocate community doesn't seem to think so.

This is strictly speaking to what Beeradvocate's think, not using the rating system here as the be-all and end-all of judging these beers. But to me, a 4 out of 5 probably means they think it tastes good. Heck, the top "session IPAs" are barely a 4 out of 5.

I also realize not all of the Wild Ales are necessarily "sour."

On the contrary. Had a small pour of Oude Tart on-tap and I really liked it because they were shooting for a Flanders Red which is my favorite sour style. Tart of Darkness I actually didn't like so much (also had on-tap) because the combo of roasty and sour didn't sit well with me. It's very difficult for me to anticipate which sours I'll like and which ones I won't. Wasted a lot of money trying to figure it out.

Oh yeah, this is technically an American Wild: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/132/96149/ and it wasn't good at all.

Shhhhhhhh, with the bottle counts always being super low, we gotta keep that under wraps. If BA figures it out we're screwed.

Wow, if you liked Oude Tart, then you are hit or miss on sours! I can see the trouble there. Flander Red's are also a favorite of mine as well, it's a good one!

Ha, even the bottle doesn't look inviting. Have any BA's had any luck aging Brux? I forget where I heard it, but I've heard a few years on it should do it some good.

Interesting shift for Marble. Is Duel bottling too?
