Shubrew in Zeilienople is open. A good selection on tap. Good food too. A new brewpub is planned to open in March 2015 in downtown Sharon, PA. Saw pictures recently showing fermentation tanks being installed. Plan to have regular brews on tap as well as seasonals.

That's one of my new favorites. Up there with Helltown and Roundabout now.

As there's been a motif throughout the thread about homebrewers going pro in the area, I just heard an interview with Zach at ShuBrew not too long ago - did you know that he decided to open a brewpub before he'd ever brewed a batch of beer?

Why the hell would they go to Sharon? To get the cows drunks?

cows it's part of the Rust Belt, old mill town with a somewhat nice downtown area decent bars, coney island hot dog shop, nice cigar bar, and the original Quaker Steak and Lube...I've never seen cows in Sharon other than steaks at a great steak house!!!

If they are going to keep the Zeilienople location as a brewpub, why move further into the sticks and away from a metropolitan area? Sounds like a piss-poor business decision to me.

Was he saying they are opening there or a different brewery?

My interpretation is that they were going to have 2 brewpubs, one in Zeilie and another in Sharon.

I'm thinking a different brewery in Sharon, I don't see a connection with Shubrew going from Zelienople up to Sharon...if anything you think they would come toward the Burgh!!!

One Google search later...Brewtus Brewing Company in downtown sharing it's going to be a brewpub here's their facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/BrewtusBrewers

    About
Brewery coming soon. Serving in house made craft beer and sodas, artisan pizza, burgers and sandwiches, and state made wine.
    Description
An upstart brewery in the Shenango Valley. Our location will be the old Chestnut St. Cafe, and the building is undergoing a complete makeover to embody a 1920'3 and 30's prohibition theme. The main floor will have an old style pub theme without tv's, focused on family and socializing. The basement level will have tv's and have a bit more of modern touch.

We will be hand crafting our own beers on site. We will brew a wide variety of styles, some being year round and others ever changing with the seasons. The food will consist of artisan pizzas, burgers and sandwiches. The menu will follow the same principle as the beer with some being offered year round and others being seasonal. We want to take a fresh and unique approach to our menu and our beer and bring something different to the area!

We will also craft root beer and cream soda on site with others possible in the future. Our goal is to bring back natural sodas similar to those made in late 1800s and early 1900s.

We also plan to showcase some of the area's awesome local wines and also those from the entire state of PA.

I completely misinterpreted @ItsBeer4Me 's post. My fault. I was sober I swear.

Sorry about the confusion on my original post. The two topics kinda ran together. I guess it was too many Fat Tire's at dinner.

Anytime a brewery calls their brews "hand-crafted" I imagine someone going in bare knuckles stirring up a mash tun :grimacing:

My visit to Shubrew back in Spring was pretty meh, but I wasnt going to write them off due to a single visit. You have to pull my fingernails off to get me north of Cranberry though (unless its for North Country's burger).

In the case of driving up to Meadville at 2am, I obviously plead insanity.

Ok so now that I know I'm not the only one, I'll briefly rant. Breweries pretentiously stating their beers are "hand crafted" is a pet peeve of mine. Hand crafted as opposed to foot crafted? Ass crafted? How the hell else do you brew a beer?

I was at work. I'm making up for it now.

My fault, not yours. I just didn't read it clearly.

With a lot of automated equipment. "Hand-crafted" carries about as much currency for me as "home-made" (sure, Cracker Barrel).

I understand the automation. It doesn't annoy me any less. I don't give a shit if Oompa Loompas are flown in from Loompaland to brew it. I only care about the final product and the ingredients.
