    FYI

    The February slogan at the Grey Lodge was

    "MISCELLANEOUS
    ... Last month's slogan was "Snobs not needed". As usual the current month's slogan is kept secret to be snobby, oh the irony. Snobs, like everyone else, are welcome or at least tolerated, but not needed."

    Was reading about the Mad Monks event on Monday and was thinking of going down because I think it's cool that they're donating the money made for Younger to Alex's Lemonade Stand. The event posted here on BA said it was $10 per 6 oz. pour. Then I went to the website for Monk's and it said FIFTEEN dollars a pour. $2.50 an ounce. Goodness. At any rate, I hope they exceed their goal of raising $10,000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand. I think that's a pretty stand up thing to do, paying for the keg out of your own pocket and donating the proceeds...+10% of the other Russian River sales, and the raffle sales.

    Tom raised it from $10 to $15 after people pointed out it was sold for $15 last year.

    Khyber's proceeds are going to the Philly Free Libraries. If i had to choose, i'd go with that cause x10000000
    *before someone chimes in that i'm anti-fighting childhood cancer. i'm not a fan of charities where a large chunk of their proceeds pay the salary of the board members. :wink:

    You're either trying to be funny or get a different version of the mailing list that I get...

    MISCELLANEOUS
    Chef Eric is moving on. We wish him the best of luck at his new gig and thank him for being such a rock steady and enthusiastic member of the team... Last month's slogan was “6 more weeks of winter seasonals". As usual the current month's slogan is kept secret until Wissinoming Winnie reveals it.

    I'm not sure where my feelings come from in this instance, but despite the fact that 100% of the proceeds are going to charity...I just can't wrap my head around paying $15 for a 6 oz. pour, in what will surely be an assholes-to-elbows crowded joint. Again, I appreciate what Monk's is doing but...it'd be nice to be able to donate less than $15 for a 6 oz. pour, if you know what I mean. I don't understand the concept of raising the price of something because it's being donated. Usually that's something you do if you're keeping a portion of the cost, and donating the balance. I shouldn't post on this further. I don't think anything constructive can come from doing so. My apologies for having voiced this much.

    (1) to maximize the benefit to the charity;
    (2) because people will pay elevated prices when they know it's going to a good cause and a bar isn't profiting (directly) off of your payment;
    (3) giving to charity helps other people who need assistance; and
    (4) giving to charity makes most people feel good about themselves.

    I'm already standing by the door waiting in line. I keep getting weird looks from people as they go in and out and I think the cops might have been call since I'm clearly loitering.

    I also might be laying on my couch watching UFC. I might get there early tomorrow, only because my car is getting inspected and I'm meeting some friends up there as well.

    All my carpool buddies backed out so now I'm SOL or I have to drive all the way down alone. Unless anyone in North Jersey/NYC area wants to come along for the ride.
