Officially on the 22nd, more infor coming soon. Should we do a theme?

I was thinking that one of the beers should either be the one that got you into craft beer or a "life-changing" beer that really made an impact on you.

So you want me to bring Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy? Maybe I'll bring some Sam Adam's Cherry Wheat too.

Well John, my life-changing beer will be a Summer Shandy, too. Why? because I'm going to hit you over the head with one and get arrested. Prison really changes a man...

Ok, that means one of my beers will either have to be:

    1) Blue Moon (anyone want me to bring a case? any takers? I can bring some orange slices too! party!!!) or
    2) De Dolle Stille Nacht '06 aged 5 years....I'll probably have to think of another beer that changed my life instead unless I'm flying back to Belgium sometime soon!

I do have some good beers though, can't wait!

Ok, but before you do that we should shave our heads into mullets and throw on some wife-beaters.

Yeah, I'm striking two for two on those. Breakfast stout is hard to come by these days, and the only life change brought on by beer is the extra twenty pounds I'm carrying around - but I'd have a hard time pinpointing that on any beer in particular.

Sure the beers that got us into craft may be "crap" by our standards now, but I think it would be fun to see how our tastes have evolved. Plus, it's only one round in a sure to be epic night of tasting.

True...okay, I hope it's a blind tasting and then everyone guess which ones I bring are Russian River, Bruery, or Blue Moon beers...

We also have 10ish people coming, so larger format bottles or multiple 12oz would be ideal. Just keep that in mind.
    Other themes:
Something from every state? (Might not be doable, maybe regions?)
    Blind style tasting?
Base beers and their BA counterparts?

I've got some NC goodies that I picked up while I was down in Asheville - so that could count towards State/Regional. It'd also count for base/ BA version as well - so I'm down for either of those options.

Also have time to try to trade for some BA BORIS.... so yeah. I'm game.

Here's a list of base/barrel combos if we decide on something like that:

    Boris/ba Boris
    Zhukov/huna
    BCS/variants
    Old viscosity/older
    Curmudgeon/ better half
    Dirty bastard/ backwoods
    Adam/aftw
    Fred/ bourbon fred
    Yeti/ ba yeti
    Plead the fifth/ ba Ptf
    Blackout/ ba blackout
    4th dementia/ ba
    DL/ variants
    Y2k/ BBBW
    Hifi/ ba hifi

Those are ones I could contribute to (in part) not totally sure we could get this one done. Thoughts?

People's porter / ba people's porter is what I can bring, and like I said I can try to procure a ba Boris in time. I've also got two backwoods bastards and a 11' DL.

Blind tasting sounds great, states idea is also great, and I like the beers that changed life/brought us into beer too. I like the base/BA idea, but if we go with that option I'll for sure need to get a trade or two in the works since I won't be able to contribute too much to that specific list based on my current cellar. Only ones I have towards this theme on my own is an Espresso Oak Aged Yeti, Allagash Curieux, a '11 BCBS (but only one 12oz), , De Struise Black Albert and Cuvee Delphine (again, unfortunately only one 12oz for each of these). Also, at Ray's today I saw that they carry the BA Rasputin so that would be an easy knock-down.

Either way, really looking forward to the tasting! Let me know what you guys think and I can trade if I have any gaps in my cellar and the tasting theme.

Just closed a deal for some ba Boris. Perhaps we can just do a mishmash of some of the suggested themes and discuss the theme for the next (next) tasting on the 22nd.

Don't necessarily want/need people to make trades just for the tasting. So bring whatever you'd like!

Okay, sounds good, just want to make sure I can contribute as best I can to whatever theme there might be. Will there be a sign-up of each of our beers' styles or any other preference for what should be brought, or is it just to bring a few 22oz/2x12oz/750ml bottles of our choosing? Less than a couple weeks from an awesome tasting  Hope all Milwaukee BAs had a good weekend!

Crickets here too? Also, I should still be able to bring a couple base/BA pairings if we're kind of doing that theme still. You know what part of Milwaukee area the tasting will be in? Thanks!
