Zwanze Day 2014 - Midwest locations

    The bars that will receive this year's Zwanze have been released. In the Midwest, you'll be able to enjoy this year's creation at Schera's in Elkader, IA and Bier Station in Kansas City, MO.

    Mark your calendar for Sept. 20th, Midwest BAs.

    This year's Zwanze is 3-year-old Iris blended with a bit of kriek, then dry-hopped.

    Here is the full list of US bars that will get Zwanze:

    Yeah....Frederique/Abu Nawas has really been bringing his A game in the IA craft distribution scene and it shows if Shelton chose a small bar/restaurant in his home town as a Zwanze location!

    I thought he left to start Abu Nawas a few years back? Is he still part owner? Regardless, how about we just talk about how awesome it is that Zwanze is coming to Iowa.

    He did leave the restaurant, but his partner still owns/runs it. It may not be technically his, but it still is.

    Schera's is going to be absolutely crazy that day. Congratulations to everyone involved to secure Iowa a location for Zwanze Day.

    It is nearly the same distance from Minneapolis to Elkader as it is from Des Moines (202 vs 182).

    I'm expecting that most of the Iowa presence will be Eastern Iowa folks, though I already know quite a few DSM folks who will also make the trek.
