Made it to both the Hotel Lucia and Belmont Station events so far. The free tastes at Lucia were great, especially the Gillian. Crowd was very light at the hotel event. Did the stout flight at Belmont and had a glass of Juliet, which was also excellent. Bonus of the evening at Belmont was when the Goose Island rep broke out a couple of bottles of Bourbon County Rare and gave free samples.

Does anyone have deets on the Produce Row event. It looks like they are doing one of their beer and bourbon tasting flights. I am hoping they are allowing people to break the beer away from the bourbon.

When did that happen? We saw that GI guy with the Rare bottles, but we had to leave.

I don't see any real info on this ANYWHERE...

I too, hope they are splitting the flight/pairing up, because I'm not into Whiskey/Bourbon. But if they aren't, first person to rub their nipples and scream "I love Michelob Ultra!" gets my whiskey tasters :grinning:

I was working on the bottle shop side, but from what I gathered they were just periodically cracking bottles from ~7:30-9ish.

Also, thanks for the kind words from all of you, and thanks for coming out and giving the GI folks a warm welcome. Apparently they were so enamored with the crowd that they promised to include Portland in their migration week plans again next year. I also pestered them to increase the amount of BCBS (and variants) that they send to Oregon this fall, so everyone cross their fingers.

Did the kegs kick? Will the remainers make a reappearance at some point? Perhaps with non-flight options available?

Just got to Produce Row. Beers are available for $3.50 for a 3oz pour, or flights for $10.50. Bourbon is not required.

Vanilla ran out around 5:30, and the rest of the bottles around 6. Not nearly as well run as Belmont Station, the servers seemed really unprepared for this type of event and the flights were taking forever to come out (I ordered for my wife 10 minutes before she arrived and she still waited 35 minutes for beer). Once Vanilla ran out, they just subbed in an extra 09 BCBS to the flights without double checking if people were okay with that or wanted to modify their order. Also, I'm pretty sure our table got charged for a couple extra flights that never showed up (multiple times a tray came to our table with one less flight that we'd actually ordered).

Not meaning to bitch too much. I had a good time at the event, and even if we did get overcharged a little, the price we paid was totally reasonable for these beers. But, it does go to show that experience running these event does actually matter.

    (Also, 09 > Vanilla > KH)

i got there at 520, and got my beer 10 minutes after ordering, I thought that was reasonable given the circumstance. I was able to get all 3. Really enjoyed those beers.

I'm hoping that with this success we get more next year and hopefully GI listens to maltmaster!

So the Friday event, at Main Street Homebrew....
Is that the MainBrew in Hillsboro? Because it seems like it, but they normally close at 8 (event: 7-10pm) and the August calendar of events on their website is totally empty.

And did anyone find a reference to what kind of tasting they'll be doing there, and which brews?

Maybe it's actually at the ABV pub? Isn't that next door?

Yes, you're right about ABV, although their website, tap-list, Facebook, and Twitter make no mention of it either. I guess it will be very low key. Still no word on which styles they'll have?

The only thing missing from this awesome retort is a "Kids these days" at the beginning so I fixed that for you. You're welcome.
