My stores don't get any ZD in the first place... so no bitching would happen. It just seems odd that a brewery would hold so much back... that's all. I also understand that it's not at all hard to come by if I really want it, but for me it's not really worth the chase. I have plenty of other beer options up here that don't involve driving 2 hours (if there's not any shitty traffic), or finding a mule for a beer that's made year round. It'll pop up on tap anyway eventually... in fact I know of one bar off the top of my head that has it on right now in Milwaukee.

Um, odd no. They get to sell a case for $40 without having to ship it or sell it to a distributor for a lower price. They get a higher margin per case and drive traffic to their brewpub. Not sure why that is hard to understand.

This. The first time I had ZD on tap I was blown away. The two times I have drank it from 6-packs purchased locally I was less than enamored.

I will stick with Odd Side Citra Pale Ale, unless I am going to Chicago, then maybe I will stop by the brewery and get a case if they have it.

People laugh, but this is absolutely true to an extent. Is it a fantastic beer? Yes. But the reason it sells so quickly is all hype. People keep perpetuating it over and over that this is the be-all-end-all and so people just blindly keep buying it. In a blind taste test, it would probably finish pretty high among IPAs or pale ales, but it wouldn't be a 1000x better than everything else, that's for sure.

Yeah, FFF needs to compensate all of us for creating all of the hype, thus the brewery does not need to do any marketing of that beer. I'll be satisfied to get a case of ZD for my compensation. :grinning:

This is the answer. But don't utilize logic when the irrational desire exists that Zombie Dust should be available 24-7 at everyone's local bottle shop, say, like Budweiser.

Until I can get it in California. Then the answer is no.

It makes it to Milwaukee in bottles from time to time. Goes quick but it gets here.

I've personally never seen it. I'm sure it's a right place right now kinda thing or it may get kept in the back for some people. I don't think I have ever seen it on a twitter or facebook update from a store.

that's really the best way to do it....get a connection and enjoy it regularly enough to get your fix....

And unfortunately stores are pretty screwed by the low distribution. Like I've said many times over the past couple years, I wish Zombie Dust was not distributed. If we hold it for regulars then random people coming in think we are operating in a "shady" manner. It's not like a store can take special orders for it. That's a damning situation in itself. If we don't hold it for regulars then regulars get mad or it turns into a "I'm a regular, what makes that guy more of a regular than me". By just putting it on shelves people plan their lunch breaks around our deliveries just hoping to hit the delivery window. Lose, lose, lose.

Probably bought it to sell in their liquor stores. I see this happening frequently.

That's exactly what I said to the guy I was standing next to/talking to while waiting in line. It was so obvious they weren't getting it to enjoy for themselves.

yeah i totally agree with you...it sucks for the stores and it sucks for consumers...puts everyone in a bad spot. they shouldn't distribute unless they could consistently meet demand....which won't ever happen.

2-3 hours? I wish. I was in NW Indiana on the day of release, so I said, yeah, sure, I'll drop by and get a case. An hour later, sold out.

If that's meeting demand, you've got a funny idea of supply. They could increase supply ten-fold, and I suspect they wouldn't wash over the demand. As it is, as others have said, they drive huge business to their pub, and sell a lot of other items. Having waited in line an hour, I didn't go home empty handed.

plenty of ZD at liquor stores in NW Indiana. Most of them are not uber fresh but can be purchased easily.

Plenty of stores in Merrillville, Hobart, Lake Station, Portage.....liquor stores out there that you wouldn't expect to have craft beer have ZD.
