Zwanze Day 2014 - Redlight Redlight, Orlando

I am also interested and planing on going. Went last year when I was living in Philly at Monks and had a great time.

 

People start lining up outside RL RL HOURS in advance for a chance to try some of the rarest and limited Cantillon offerings. It is quite busy for the first 3 hours or so after the event starts, but RL RL did a a great job managing the large crowd.
Last year they had a separate line in which they were selling Cantillon merchandise, including 375ml bottles of Geuze and the ability to purchase tickets for a pour of Zwanze or another Cantillon offering.

I would suggest carpooling with someone if at all possible.

 

I also think this year's Zwanze is some Iris blend, not sure but if so I NEED to TRY this as Iris is one of my favorite beers

 

Just realized it's same night as Haflway There Rare Beer Fest in Tampa which I already bought tickets too..... tough choice there.

 

For the last two years, RR had a presale for guaranteed pours. Very busy and mini-bottleshares throughout. They've had some great accessory beers on tap too.

 

Halfway There is Sept. 6, Zwanze is Sept. 20.

Stand corrected, looks like I'll get to enjoy both! (I probably put Zwanze day in my damn calendar in anticipation and mis-labled it).

Last year we got in line a little before opening, got draft pours of Zwanze, iris, and classic gueuze, and guest taps like KBS/cask and larder/funky buddha/7venth sun and other great stuff, had a nice sized bottle share, redlight sold cantillon bottles like fou for very reasonable prices which everyone pitched in on for pours. We stayed pretty late, ordered pizza, and made it back to our hotel via cab, which is highly recommended. I probably sampled 8-9 different loons that day altogether.

 

So bottle share/bottles sold... Going solo.. so may be guy who buys bottle and asks you if you want a pour, so doesn't look awkward when he buys a loon and drinks it all by himself...

Do you have to purchase tickets for this event or do you just show up? I am thinking about doing this as I'm getting into sours lately and want to try some good stuff.

 

Last year the event was open, but you had to pre-purchase a ticket for a pour of Zwanze. There was plenty to go around, although it seems like a lot more people are interested this year..

 

When did you have to pre-purchase the Zwanze pour tickets? Well before the even started, or after they open the doors?

 

The tickets for the pours roughly go on sale 2 weeks before the event. RLRL typically puts out a post on Facebook indicating this.

 

I am looking forward to this event. Never been before.

 

Also will debut our third annual Zwanze Day weird Saint Somewhere/Redlight Redlight collab.
This year is a saison brewed with Durian. I kid you not!
