My group is torn on a decision to make a trade. I'm simply curious what your opinion is and if you would take the deal. Seems like a no brainer to me, but why not get some more opinions on it. Just curious which side of this deal you would rather consume. Bruery Portuguese Brandy Barrel Aged Sucre or Remy - Taps Fish House & Brewery Not asking who is "winning" the trade...just looking for honest feedback based on taste and how hard it would be to track either bottle down again.
The bottle of 2013 Remy I had was outstanding. I've had regular Sucre and the Tawny variant so far, too damn sweet for my liking personally. Bois and its variants last year were so much better. I'd rather drink/have Remy.
I was lucky and acquired two bottles of brandy barrel aged Bois last year and that beer was absolutely delicious. I have not had brandy Sucre but I am sure it is good. That being said, being a guy in Ohio and getting the brandy Bois from a store shipped to me (long story) I will say that the Remy is likely going to be tougher to find again.
I agree. IMO, Bois and its variants were far, far superior to Sucre and its variants (that I've had so far). Though, the base beer Sucre is definitely sweeter than Bois from what I can remember. Perhaps I will have to open a Bois again soon to confirm my memory from last year.
