Im following up on an earlier post seeking additional info on the green bay craft beer scene. I'm officially moving into an apt complex About 4 miles east of the children museum that is by the train station. I hit up a few recommended bars and liquor stores, but -- and maybe this is because I am from Chicago -- I felt woefully underwhelmed. Then again, Madison has 4-5 really good craft beer selling store plus a handful of good tap bars

So my question is this: beyond Woodmans, where do you recommend I get beer?

The thing I have going for me is I'm a bears fan like you guys are bucks fans (not a football fan at all--I'm a baseball writer)

I'm more pissed I don't get FFF anymore

Thanks for the info. Checked the place out online and it sounds killer!

Is this the only "craft" carrying store then?

On the other side, what about bars? I went to some bar with a couple hundred bottles and chalk board on the wall listing them all, but the best beer on the list IMO was sierra nevada....

I've found Woodman's the best bottle shop....Ridgeview was ok but a bit of a letdown for me...are you aware of Titletown and Hinterland? They both are decent brewpubs/microbreweries. Old Chicago had a few things (not a lot) last time I was in town....we usually just hit TT or Hinterland or both when in town...

    Baseball? In GB? Something "brewing..?"

Look for the Ale Asylum beers, I can't imagine they don't get to GB. Really good stuff.

The last time I spent a long weekend in GB the **** & Bull http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/14695 had a big, good selection of bottles and drafts. It's kind of a cool looking pub, but it really gets crowded and less-than-relaxing on weekend nights.

It's been a couple years since I have been to either but TT has been up and down over the last ten years or so....seems like when they do get a brewer kicking some ass they lose him to a different brewery....IMHO at its worst TT is average and many times I think its beer is good to very good. Hinterland is solid in my eyes. Not great but solid.

    I guess I'm quite a snob...that's where I went and I couldn't find anything I wanted to drink!!

Didn't realize ale asylum made it up there. Ive been in Madison for two years so I'm very familiar with them

Ale Asylum isn't in GB yet. I think Sheboygan is the furthest north it gets. GB should see it sometime soon with the new brewery.

Things could have definitely changed since I was last there.

There's always New Glarus to fall back on before the Asylum gets there.

I live in Door County and take relatively frequent trips to GB and I haven't found a store that I like more than ridgeview. Woodmans is decent too but they don't have the hard to get seasonals and Belgians that ridgeview has. Also, as of yesterday, two of the Goose Island sisters were still fully stocked at ridgeview, if that's what your in to.

Titletown Brewery actually brews some pretty decent beers. Their IPA is pretty solid, and I had a really nice BA Barleywine.

Bring me one of those Henries from the bar/restaurant next time you're near green bay . It'll make the move easier

For bars - check out Ned Kelly's and Vintage - only a few blocks from each other... If you want relaxing, I'd hit both of them earlier or avoid weekends, as they both get very busy. Lorelei has started pouring craft beers, too, (Oskar Blues, Southern Tier, etc recently) and has a nice bottle list.
