If you're going to Carton you better be going to Kane as well! While I love Carton, Kane definitely is the better brewery overall right now! The only problem is you can only get growler fills at Kane (other than when they release bottles like 3 times a year), whereas you can get cans of Boat and 077XX at Carton pretty much always, and they've started canning some of their seasonal releases too.

So what time should we expect people to start lining up for the first ticket handout?

Lawson's has cancelled for the weekend due to a death in the family. So I wouldn't expect anyone to line up.

Here's a Facebook link because their website is down for some reason.

What do you think they will do with all the Double Sunshine they bottled?

It wasn't bottled. It will be sold next week.

Slightly unfortunate that I booked a trip this weekend and won't be getting Double Sunshine. Still, very much brewery and bar hopping to occur either way.

In the interest of clarity here NJ has 2 very strong breweries each with a different mission. If what you want is a very well made Jersey version of the barrel aged stouts, high gravity dark beers, and big dry hop IPAs every state except NJ had till 3 years ago, Kane has done an exceptional job making those for us. If you are looking for an all around different brewery experience you're gonna want to hit Carton. Carton literally invented the session IPA, they make everyone's favorite coffee cream ale, they make an exceptional double IPA and a blow your mind pale. In my last 2 visits they have had a game changing coffee double IPA and invented a salad beer.
The good news is they are only about half an hour from each other so on Saturday you can hit both, I do all the time. If you can only do one, and you have world class stouts and IPAs in your life at home I'd suggest Carton, no one screws around like he does, it's the unique experience.

Wow, most unfortunate as I did the same thing. Will be in VT on Thurs/Fri and was especially looking forward to the Double Sunshine. Ah well, plenty of other good beers to be had, that's for sure.

Yeah, I was thinking instead of doing the double line up at Hill Farmstead. (Get there Friday by 12:00, get beer, line up again.)

Anyone done this before? Is this viable? Or is the wait too long for the 5PM closing?

It depends on the line, you may not need to double up. I have been up there a few times and could fill more than 3 growlers since it was only me and a few buddies I made the trip with there. Unless you're trying to double up on bottle limits (not saying this is your intention) but that most likely will not fly.

Is there a time of week or time of day when it's usually slower? I am visiting this week and was thinking Thursday might be good. Also, are they pretty strict on their growler rules? Being from FL, I only have 32 oz growlers at the moment :slight_frown:
