So, @valrxman gave me a great Gose in a lottery BIF a couple weeks ago. Since I don't have a kid on the way (I hope - the girlfriend would be pissed) and I haven't been to a family reunion, we'll do this lottery style. Like this post before 8am and I'll randomly select the winner.

I think I missed your lottery by a couple minutes, so feel free to disqualify me, I liked it anyway because that's pretty awesome of you.

edit: I guess it depends on which time zone's 8AM you're going by, I assume one or the other of Eastern or Pacific?

So I have this idea in my head, throwing it out there to the group.

Looking to keep the thread active until Locals 2 Electric Boogaloo.

Here is my idea: Let's call it Locals, I Can Choose My Exporter! or LICC ME

    1. Person A sets parameters for a box. example: I want to send a box with 6 bottles, (9 max). That person can specify number of bottles, timing, location (aka only for west coasters, or states that have at least 100 people in them etc), style. One rule is that it is about locals first, keeping with the theme of this thread. The fewer the parameters the better IMO. Hitting wants is always ok.
    2. Person A then takes a picture of some (or all) of the beers in the box. Can tease this out one at a time to make a slow reveal. During this time person A could hint at maybe a beer (local please, not a whalefest) that they've been looking to try.
    3. Person B quotes and replies and accepts the trade. Person B does not have to identify anything about what they are trading, and person A has to accept the trade based on the parameters that person A has started. Person B may certainly tease the contents as well (like you would drop hints on location, this would just be hints around contents)
    4. Person A & B exchange addresses and ship beer. (i'd shoot for no longer than two weeks from the acceptance, but that will be between the traders)
    5. **** to be posted as usual.

I figure this can be a fun way to keep the thread moving along, increase the **** level, and people can hop in at anytime. Multiple trades can happen at once, basically a BIF free for all.

I'm going to start this up next week, I want ideas/tweaks before then, and to see if this interests anyone.

Person A can step back from the trade at any time BEFORE it is accepted. I don't think that will be a problem with this group, but I wanted to make it a black and white rule in case this happens to come up.

And the winner (selected by a random number generator) is @wheelzntoys. You get one each of:
    Zoe
    Lunch
    Mean Old Tom
    Red Wheelbarrow
    MO
    Peeper

I'll wait and send this out Monday unless you object. Otherwise, these beers will spend the weekend in a warehouse somewhere.

It was Eastern time. I'll be more specific next time. Sorry about that.

It was delicious. Really light. I'm not sure there is such a thing as a sessionable Gose, but this might be it. I had Gose Gone Wild about three weeks ago and it actually compares really well. Also, thanks for the tote bag and coasters. I should probably post a picture of the (now empty) growler. My bad.:astonished: Thanks again!

I'm glad you liked it. It is getting plenty of praise and awards. I grab a growler or two whenever I can.

I either have NO idea what you're proposing, or you're basically suggesting that the conversation would go like this:

    A: "I want xyz beer"
B: "I got you covered, send me something cool"
    A: "ok"
B: "holy shit what did you do to my porch?"
A: "holy shit what did you do my porch?"

Beer karma being rewarded almost instantly...don't think it's coincidence that @wheelzntoys threw a stealth box my way last week and was rewarded with the next LIF box. Cheers boys!

You have part of it. A doesn't ask for anything (although they could set parameters stringently enough to make it close to that, not really the spirit of the LICC ME). A starts off a proposed box, and someone claims it, really only B knows some of the beers in the box, A is surprised, but B could hint.

    A: I propose a 6 bottle box, 9 bottle max.
A: Posts a picture "These two beers will be in the box" "Who wants to LICC ME?" (could post additional pics of beers as well to garner interest, but we could set a limit of 3 beers in the box)
    B: Done, I've got you.

Person A & B exchange addresses, then proceed to hint (or not) at beers in each other's box. Mail beer. Profit.

Then "Oh shit what did YOU do to my porch", "No NO dude what the hell did YOU do to my porch"

Like I said it was an idea in my head, now it is out, if it is stupid that is fine.

So it's sort of like "anybody want to do a blind trade? -- I'll send you 92 ounces including at least one bottle of A, one bottle of B, and one bottle of C -- and I'd be interested in Pale Ales or Ambers that I can't get in the Northeast". Or something to that effect?

I think it's a neat idea, except for having to use the phrase "who wants to LICC me?"

Yeah that is exactly it, A can exclude areas where they've had a lot of beer (at the risk of not finding a match) or keep it open.

For me, I have a few hard to get locals in my fridge. I want to share the love don't really care (and probably will ninja someone soon) what I get back in return, but I don't have a lot of "gotta drink me soon" beers. I don't want anything fancy, would love to try some new locals rather than pad my fridge with stuff I've had before.

Oh and it is LICC ME. It is an acronym so all are capitalized
