I drank a 1995 Bigfoot in June of this year (so pretty damn close to 20yrs on it) and was really impressed how well it ages. I preferred the 2002 that day but not by much. In fact, I really don't care for this beer that much until AT LEAST 10 years on it...

A lot of De Molen's beers say 25 years on the bottle. Great suggestion!

Depends on what you like, but my experience is that stouts and porters age better. That said, Deschutes Brewery out of Bend Oregon has an anniversary porter every year, this year is the 26th. Deschutes virtually revived the porter style and has been cranking out an anniversary edition ever since.

Since you are looking for a beer to cellar for anniversary events, an anniversary style beer might just the right thing.

Admittedly I haven't tried the #26, or #25 for that matter, but I have tried cellared varieties of various vintages that were something I always compare when having their flagship Black Butte Porter, which is outstanding in it's own right.

Based on how 1994 Adam is drinking right now, and that it seems as though it will go further (and brewery Alan Sprints says so as well, and he'd be the best judge). My cellar is largely HOTD too and I'm also making a switch to more gueuze but I don't have much experience past about 10 years there myself. I have friends who've drank really old gueuze and from what I've picked up, the best ones have been around the 10 year mark. It's limited, but it's what I got.

What's tough about HOTD is the batch variation - some Adam batches will probably go much longer than others.

3rd party, preferably from out side the region, with extensive tasting history would be best. Not the guy that brewed the beer and after twenty years can't figure out how to carbonate beer consistently.

Did Deschutes start an anniversary line of the Black Butte Porter before 2008? If so, please post some info, I'm very interested as Deschutes was one of the breweries that got me into craft.

BIG FOOT . I've had a 13 yr old and I believe a 17 yr old at 2 different EBF's and both were fantastic.

    Chimay Grande Réserve (Blue)

Came into this thread looking for bottles I can put away for my son born last year. I'm hoping to store a few away (that were bottled in 2013) for his 21st, assuming I can keep said bottles in proper storage until then. Gueuze's are obvious, I'm getting a few 3F, cantillon and a boon marriage parfait. I already have an expedition stout, bigfoot and a de molen H&V. After reading this, I'm going to add some Adam, JW Lees, Old Stock and a Courage RIS. A bottle of each shouldn't take up too much room, and if one turns bad, oh well.

He'brew Jewbelation has the abv to last at least a decade. I plan to hold onto several Sweet 16s for sixteen years.

I had a Sweet 16 this past winter and it was straight soy sauce.

This is kind of funny since my brother once ordered a MGD at a fancy restaurant that didn't typically sell cheap beer. They had to go in the back to find him one. The beer they brought back was obviously old by the lable on the bottle and a much darker color than usual.
It was very good though and had quite a malty sweetness to it. I was really surprised that the beer tasted so well.
Is MGD worth a cellar lol?

I can attest to bigfoot also. Me and a few buddies bought a mixed six pack and did a home review a few years back, maybe 2012ish. The oldest I believe was a 92. It also included a 95, 98 and some early 2000's I believe. The carbonation goes away in some bottles, stays in others. The taste is still there. I remember the 98 being the best.
Bigfoot is not a beer I typically like fresh.
If your interested I can look up my review notes.

50% of new marriages end in divorce with the average length 8 years, you may want to consider that ! Also, make sure in the pre-nup you get custody of the beer!

    Good luck!

I highly recommend Black Tuesday from The Bruery. I know that people have favorites between the years, but I personally believe that it can go the distance of "decades". Read the label, it says so....lol
