    Cali vs. Vermont
Russian River vs. The Alchemist is a draw
    Hill Farmstead knocks out Stone
But then you've still got SN, Lagunitas and Anchor to go...
Sorry, but it's California on top by weight of sheer numbers.

I agree with your conclusion but you named basically the 3rd, 15th, 96th, and 200th best breweries in California and then the top 2 breweries in Vermont.

Alpine would be a better comparison with Alchemist. I can't think of a brewery in CA that hits all the notes that HF does. SARA? RR might be a good comparison to HF but they don't get in on that farmhouse game.

But who am i kidding, this is a stupid ass thread.

CA strong. From the Eureka to San Diego, the beer game is strong.

There are some solid contenders in Vermont, Colorado, Michigan, even NY is getting there (thank you Sixpoint) but i don't think anything touches Cali, it's a bit nuts the amount of sick beer that comes out of that state.

ask around in NJ about being able to get RR, its extremely difficult, it's like getting Westbrook in NY

It's not the beer having this largely pointless argument. If there was only 1 superbly excellent beer in the whole world package in 2 different shaped bottles, people would still waste countless moments of their lives claiming one is better than the other.

California has the most breweries of any state, but they rank 19th per capita.
Vermont is 27th in the number of breweries per state, but ranks second per capita.
I was surprised to see Oregon has become first in breweries per capita.

The above is based on the Brewers Association 2013 data. At the rate breweries are opening, some of those data could change for 2014.

Hmm... I can visit every brewery in Vermont within a 3 hour drive. I'll take that.

Plus, name a crap-hole city in VT. "Cali" got a long list of those....
