Ha ha, but New York and New Jersey have some newer kick-ass breweries that are making some beer as good as any other brewery in the country. See Kane, Carton from NJ and Peekskill and Other Half from NY.

But don't tell anyone, would like to keep these beers to myself and other locals !

California. No doubt. Maybe pick a region of California (i.e. San Diego) v Vermont

    Dont forget about Lawsons
also Harpoon has good distro on the east coast

I'd have to say my favorite IPA's have come from Vermont.

But overall, Cali because of the numbers of great breweries and variety.

New York Distro is hard to beat, a few home grown gems too. I love VT beer, and from a standpoint of hoppy stuff more from CA, but higher quality from Vt. Not only Alchemist, by Lawsons is spectacular and obviously HF is world class damn near across the board. Can't speak on any of the darker brews from VT or Sours, I haven't had any.

NY distro is easy to beat. Just go about 100 miles south. PA, and Philly in particular, easily have the best selection in the country.

I'm from Northeast Philly and Philly Distro is amazing, and the great distro is kinda sequestered too kinda like Vt. You can't get Vt too far from a 30 mile radius from Waterbury, most of that great distro isn't readily available across the state.

To put NJ over PA is laughable. I don't even live in the good parts of PA for distribution but there are basically no good breweries that go to NJ but not PA.

If best beer state = breweries + distribution the answer may very well be Illinois and by Illinois I mean Chicago.

My vote is Vermont with hillsfarmstead, Lawson's and alchemist as the big 3 against rr, alpine and several others that could be 3! I might change my vote???

If we're talking about breweries within a state:
    1) California
    2) Michigan
    3) All others....

Those aren't in any particular order. I wasn't making a statement, I was asking the question to the rest of you.
