How is this thread still alive? Shouldn't it be Cali vs [insert 25 different states names here]?

It really comes down to Greensboro Bend vs Cali. Lawson and the Alchemist both basically make one beer really good. It's David vs Goliath. Alpine alone is right there w HF. Societe too. Vt has nothing even close to Stone. Magic Hat is probably the biggest mass market brewer -- and it's pure shite. Is there a single brewer in Cali that uses that Ringwood yeast? So nasty -- but so many Vt craft brewers use it -- long trail etc. Up north in Cali they got a little brewer called Anchor. U know - the iconic San Fran original one and only? I can't think of a VT brewer that could hold Anchors jock strap -- from a historical importance perspective. Come on -- Cali crushes VT.

    F New Mexico. El cumbre
K Wyoming. I don't know a single beer from Wyoming off the top of my head.
Marry Alabama. One word -- the nook (or two words I guess).

That drive from Waterbury /Stowe to HF sure goes through a boat load of crap hole towns....

A little spreadsheeting of the Top 250 list has 62 from Cali and 30 from VT... For what it's worth. A vast vast vast majority of the VT beers were Lawson's, Alchemist or HF. So more than a third of the list is from 2 states.

Not trying to incite any hate because there's good people in both states, but how about the classic MA vs. New York rivalry? I feel like this might be a little more fair than the whole Cali vs. Vermont debate; similar amount of breweries per capita, large spectrum of styles, and fewer whales than CA vs. VT.

What is the benefit of every Californian trying to get everybody else on California's dick.

    This does not make sense.

California loses point because it's the only state with 2 Anheuser-Busch breweries.
