Kinda funny, I haven’t seen this in stores yet. I assumed it was a matter of the initial batch selling off to all the tickers first, and then another shipment of sloppy seconds would come in and collect dust on shelves for slowpokes like me to make our move.

I'll admit I'm sort of tempted to buy a four pack because a lot of places are offering free glassware with purchase now. And I'm a sucker for nice glassware.

Still cases and cases of this stuff sitting around the few stores near me. I wonder how overall sales are going?

I bought two four-packs when the week it came out to try it with a few friends. But haven't touched it again because of the price. At 4 for $10-$11, I'd consider it. But most of the time, it's $16+. Just not worth the price point IMHO, though I did enjoy the beer!

Just gifted a 4pack of this. Wondering if it makes sense to cellar, as I'm new to the cellaring game and have heard varying reports about aging trappists.

    Any input?

I would drink this beer fresh if I had more bottles of it

I liked the single bottle I had, but prefer other styles generally

I didn't cellar or age any of the ones I bought (4 pack). Not sure this beer will change that much with age on it. It isn't a very high ABV beer either.

Not like I can find the dates on it to figure out how fresh it is! There should be a thread for decoding bottling dates.

I liked it a ton. I'll buy it again, could care less about the price. People always find something to bitch about. Some people seek the shit some people seek the honey in life

Bump this up to ask if anyone else realized that spencer is now being distributed throughout other states of new england, with Maine, connecticut and rhode island added to Mass?

when my local store first got it in they were offering a glass with every purchase.

I think the beer itself is a world class blonde but way too expensive. I had my one bottle and am happy to leave it at that.
my elderly neighbor bought some because she thought it was "god's beer" lol.

It's on draft at my local taqueria...not sure that was the market they intended on.

I didn't realize that, but they had to do something. After the tickers got their ticks in I can't imagine the sales being anything more than abysmal. At least that's what the dusty cases upon cases at my beer stores were suggesting to me.

Any idea how to decipher the bottle code to a dAte? I'd be curious to see just how old the bottles are at my local stores.

I'm not sure. I do know there was no code printed on the first run. There is still some of that around at one store near me.

Can you give some examples of the code? Maybe we can figure it out.

It was something along the lines of 051XX04XXXX or something in that ball park. I recall looking at it in the store to see if a date was on it. Next time I am back, i'll snap a picture of it. The bottle I have from when I purchased a 4 pack had no such date on it, as rekrule said above.

Ive seen it at a few places in CT but not selling very well. I also regularly see Delirium and other belgian 4pks sitting too though.

It's fine but Ommegang Rare VOS is better and a better deal.

I just bought a log of it for the bar I work for. We'll see how it goes, and it can really go either way. It seems people here either love Belgian beers or can't stand them. I for one think its great, hence why I bought the log in the first place.
