There is no way you would say that unless you have never actually been inside. The place is immaculate, very freshly redone. Best bathrooms I have ever seen in a gastropub. If you have been avoiding based on the outside (sketchy motel out front) I would urge you to go inside.

*edit: You have been inside. Wow that surprises me that you thought that. Odd, I thought the complete opposite thing when I first walked in there.

Thirsty Moose is taboo amongst the local beer geeks because most of the beer is old and the staff, while friendly, has no clue what they're pouring. And the food is weak compared to other good beer venues in town. But by no means are sports bars with good beer taboo to beer geeks... you just need to have the good beer

What do you mean the beer is old?

I've only been there three times. I had Uinta Baba Black Lager twice, and the other time I had Lunch. The Lunch was out of this world, and the Uinta didn't taste off to me at all. Do you mean bottles?

The tap turnover is decent at the Thirsty Moose. I've never had old beer there. The staff not knowing what they are pouring is just not important in a venue like that and I've had two bartenders there who were quite into beer. The food is okay but nothing to seek out, just regular bar food. The place is a good stop.

The majority of the time, most local beer geeks are full of shit. That's how you get threads asking for beer suggestions in a town and getting suggestion that are 20+ miles out so you can get the the obligatory "beer geek certified' places mentioned.

Can BA add a notation to certain places that they are "BGC" - Beer Geek Certified? Would make things worlds easier when looking for places to quaff.... sorting the wheat from the chaff, ya know? ;-)

    Prosit!!

Thirsty Mouse is alright, the crowd is a little joey and Susie but I enjoyed the beers I've had there. WHYM is a great spot I thought and the owner was cool shit. He picked that spot cause he wanted a off the path harder to find type of joint. Black Birch is the shit and a must stop in my opinion. I also love the press room, kinda dirty with punk rock playing, cook's taking shots then going back in the kitchen and a nice 12 or so deep Draft list.
