I'm just browsing back over the past week, and I'm literally blown away by what the King Sue traders are asking for in exchange for often ONE bottle of King Sue.

Can anyone shed some light here?

I'm supposed to be getting one in a trade involving Hop Juju, but people can and will ask the moon for stuff if they think they can get it.

I've seen people asking for multiple HF growlers AND HF bottles for 1 King Sue & 1 SOSUS & 1 Naughty 90. I've seen 1 King Sue & 1 SOSUS offered for BB Flanders or Fuzzy or Unblended. I've seend 2 King Sue packaged w/ Wild Peach for DB Huna or King Henry. I'm just saying, to me, these are outlandish offers.

It's a $10ish 22oz bottle of somewhat limited DIPA that saw distro.

It is one of my all time favorite beers and my favorite brewery but I agree that trading has gotten way out of hand recently. It's just an $8 bottle out of the taproom. Had I been able to get some I would have just given some away for free as I always do when I pick up TG. Beer is for sharing, something a lot of people have forgotten about.

I'd be surprised if any DIPA pried HF out of Vt, what would be the motivation there? HF makes some of the best hoppy brews in the world, I'm not doing that if I can get HF. I'd be shocked if two $ 10 DIPA centered a DB Huna trade too, not even close to some of the offers I saw on some ISO. I'd just pass, and it's not like you can sit on these like you can for the bigger ba stouts, too many outstanding dipas out there at $4. Just my opinion of course.

Hf is so tough to get, it's remote, you stand in line forever, going up that way sometime in Oct though.

We should just rename it "King's Ransom".

I traded a KH for 2 Kern River Citra back in the day, so it isn't like people don't do these trades, but I much prefer sours and IPA's to BA stouts, so I may not be the best judge. I didn't get any King Sue this time, but had it on draft last time it was brewed and it was outstanding. That being said TG will brew it again so I would say be patient and you will get it reasonably in the future. A guy traded 4 PsudoSue for a DDG the first time it was bottled. It doesn't trade anywhere near that now.

Anything by TG now is ridiculous to trade for.

that's hilarious and I'm rather pissed I didn't think of this first

that said, I believe I have locked down my 2 bottles, in a very fair trade, so all is well in the 'hood

I asked and got 2 Beats for 3 King Sue.
Pretty damn fair, considering it sold out within hours of their completely remote taproom.

Yeah they had 4 bottle limits at the taproom - if you could get there!
Yet you're implying that I should travel 6 1/2 hours round trip to get it, and then just hand it over to someone on the East Coast or wherever in a $4$ trade that's convenient for them.
    Are you nuts?
King Sue was much harder to get than Assassin was for most people that ended up getting both.

Then whatever went to distribution sold out in minutes with a 1 bottle per person limit.
TG is not mass producing this like the people who are trying to drop the trade value are leading everyone to believe.

Everybody who thinks this shit is just sitting around is sadly mistaken.
Just because it's not "their" limited beer, and they may actually have to sacrifice a little for it.

It's great beer - people want great beer.
    Supply and demand 101.
There are plenty of people who recognize this, and are the one's sealing deals.

My .02, and I think I'm a pretty damn fair trader.
