I forget the name of the place but it was a bar not quite connected to a no tell motel and I walked in on lunch because it was across the street and I wanted a beer. I see no taps at all and the crowd looked ROUGH and all stared. My bar etiquette is to be ready with what I want so I order a bud light bottle simply knowing they will have it. I finally settle in and look over and see a Pepsi upright cooler. I glance and see BCBS and BCBCS from afar. I asked with heaitation if that's what they had and she said... Yea, it's so expensive no one ever buys it. I believe I pd 2.50 morw than my bud light and carried some of each out as it was no longer on liquor store shelves. I asked if friends had heard of it and they all go... HOW did you end up there?!? I did not tell them why :-) honey hole

Strange place called Sons of liberty ale works in the hick town of Norco, California. They had a ton of stuff and most of the brews on tap were decent. However the place is in to non-descript office/industrial building with a huge sign that says "Beer Here", and inside it just drips of Glenn Beck and Old Glory. Not that there is necessarily anything wrong with that, other than the fact that I'm pretty sure they had a hitch out front that you could tie your horse to. I'd imagine that anyone who's been to that area of the IE probably knows what that is all about.

Heh, yeah Toronado is kind of dumpy but I'm pretty sure that's the point.

    1. The name backwards is pronounced "Snag-A-Ho" so that should say something.
    2. Collingdale is also referred to as "Comptondale" so that tells you a little bit more.
    3. If you're brave enough (or drunk enough) their taps sometimes carry 2 or more local brews (Yards,Victory usually).

Come on down to Comptondale and get lucky.

They need all that money for all the hops they buy!

They are actually going to expand the tap room in the next few months.

Here's some are some pics of the interior of Other Half for those not in NYC:

They said there's a little more space on the other side of the wall with the Antelope (I think that's an antelope). So that wall will get knocked down and a few more tables will come in. So nothing too major.

Cantillon is a perfect example of this. Anderlicht is infamous for being one of the worst neighborhoods in Brussels, if not most of Western Europe. There are documentaries about how bad the sexual harassment is. And yet, right there in the middle, you have the great lambic beer to ever grace the planet.

Well, nothing specific, but here in the PNW, craft beer is everywhere. So you can go into some crappy college bar, a redneck/logger/fisherman/farmer bar, a biker bar, or anywhere really, and there will always be a craft option or 2. There's a genuine dive bar (not one of these modern faux dives, that try to be hip-crappy) in my town, that's somewhat infamous for being a regular watering hole for several serial killers, that at least has Union Jack on tap.

Mikkeller bar in san francisco. I walked down the street looking for it and felt like I was about to get mugged or stabbed. I did not want to be drunk or even buzzed walking back through that. I made a trip around the block and never went in.

Was just there last night. Felt like I was driving to end of the earth. But I really liked the beer and the folks who run it. Hope their location doesn't hurt 'em

Our craft beer world is just full of body-dumping industrial parks, firetrap basements and hipster stomping grounds where you're, like, is my wallet chain the right length? Ah, how we love it so... Seeing this thread, my thoughts flew to the self-styled 'Belgian beer museum' in Wallonia, in some sort of repurposed road house on a little-traveled back road, so abandoned-looking that the first time I stumbled past it, I thought it was closed down. On my second accidental passing-by, it was given away by a newish-looking banner, but I had to knock on the door, to be let in by a kindly woman in sweatpants... Inside is a rabbit-warren of fluorescent-lit rooms of old bottles and signs etc. labeled with hand-written stickers or slips of typing paper taped to the plexiglas... All the windows are boarded up, with no fresh air to stir the mold spores... I think I heard someone being ordered to put the lotion in the basket... but eventually there's a table of bottles of rare and unfamiliar beers in various states of commercial labeling, priced by some mandarin-designed matrix of strength and bottle type. I'm still not sure if it was a dream, a nightmare or actual events.

The olde Night Shift brewing was in a real sketchy industrial park but their beer is amazing! They recently moved to a larger less sketchy area

It's not a bad area but Earth Eagle in Portland, ME. Pretty much in an alley and super hard to find, quite an interesting place. I had my first beer brewed with meat(roosters to be more specific).

Did someone mention Lost Nation in this thread? Was there twice this past weekend. If someone did you are so right, it's hard to find, and in a strange industrial location. OTOH they have kickass barbecue and incredible beer, great folks working there, really friendly atmosphere, 10$ fills, and a counter pressure filler. All this in a converted industrial warehouse surrounded by a road construction zone and next to plumbing and lumber warehouses

The Saratoga City Tavern is a 5 floor shitshow of a bar on most nights. Dance club on 4th floor, juiced up bouncers. Just awful. However, the first floor has 68 taps and all of them are craft. Among the best tap lists in upstate NY. You just need to drink there on weekdays and during the afternoon as it becomes unbearable on weekend nights. Great spot to watch a football game, eat some wings, and split a pitcher of IPA. But check out the yelp reviews, awful for everything else. Even the bartenders joke about how awful it is during track season and on weekends. Once it gets crowded, go across the street to Desperate Annie's and crush the best jukebox in NY.

I had my first Ruination IPA when I woke up in a hammock that wasn't mine at Summercamp Music festival. I was sleeping on top of it. Not exactly a place I think of when I think good beer
