I'll start the thread, I was waiting for someone else to do it. Okay, I get it. This festival isn't most accessible for most of the state of Michigan but it really is a great fest and such a different atmosphere.

Who else is going? My wife and I get to go after convincing the grandparents to take the kids home after a long week in Curtis. We haven't been in a few years and we are looking forward to it very much so.

I haven't seen a beer release list yet from the brewers guild but I"ll be checking as we get closer to the event. Doesn't seem like breweries bring a bunch of crazy stuff but most bring solid taps.

I'm in, but I also live in the U.P. so it's only about an hour's drive for me. Historically the MBG doesn't release the beer list until a week or so before the event.

Also the week leading up to the fest is U.P. Craft Beer Week, and there's a ton of stuff going on. The full (and growing) list is available at www.upcraftbeerweek.com

My wife and I are coming up for this event. It will be our first MBG fest. We're going to do a mini pub-crawl in the TC area before we head up to Marquette. We plan to spend two nights in Marquette and two nights drinking down the beer list at the Fitz for some R&R  before heading back home.

This will be my first UP Beerfest. I hear its a great time, very laid back compared to Winter Beerfest. Can't wait!

I'll be on vacation, this weekend. It's definitely one of my favorite beer festivals. Have fun, everybody!

I highly recommend making the extra 2 hr drive up to Eagle River and hitting The Fitz. I just got back from two weeks up there, and Marc has one of the best beer lists in the state. You won't be disappointed.

I'll be there, I was thinking about making this very thread. It's about a mile from my house! Hopefully Bells will be showing up this year.

It looks like Bell's went to the Summer Fest, so I would guess that they ironed out the issues between them and the MBG. Also with Upper Hand in Escanaba they have full-time staff in the U.P., so they've been much more active locally.

According to the Bells website, they will indeed be there this year. Hooray! I hope they bring Raspberry Wild One and BB Expedition like they did to the Great Taste.

Hooray for Thimbleberry Crush! Unfortunately I haven't gotten up to The Fitz to try that out. I know what my first beer at the fest will be. Also no Wild Rover for me this year, even though they FINALLY became part of U.P. Craft Beer Week, but I'll see you guys at the fest!

The excitement level has started to rise. There are many beers on that list that I want to try if my liver will permit.

There were many beers that I missed out on that I wanted to try but they were tapped out, but 'Best of Show' for me was Brewery Terra Firma's BBA Cherry Festive Ale. Notables were from Tri-City - BA Spark Knock Imperial IPA, their Regimental Reserve BA Scotch Ale, and Pike 51's TBN Oude Bruin. Two from Gravel Bottom were also very good - Flatliner Citra Pale Ale and their Skullduggery IPA. I recall that many others were also notable, but my notes just don't tell me very much right now.

I was able to hit most of my list fortunately, but it helps when your wife loves beer and you can share!

I really liked the Terra Firma cherry beer, but we enjoyed their Scarborough (herb) beer a ton as well. Pike 51 had three great beers - the oud bruin, the other sour, and the spicy pineapple were awesome.

Other highlights for me were Short's whiskey sour and the Blackrocks BA beers. I'm sure there were more but like you I don't have my list in front of me.

As a Yooper I had to try the pasty beer. I'm sure the beer itself was ok but I couldn't get past how disgusting (not to mention unsanitary) the ketchup rimmer was.
