And I couldn't get past 12 oz. "You're not worthy" indeed, as it says on the bottle.

I'm still a new beer drinker, this was only the 6th different beer I've ever had. I should probably come back to this one in a couple months, right? I didn't enjoy the taste, but I really wanted to. It's a highly praised beer, and Stone comes from San Diego!

Give it time friend. In 6 months you will be popping double bastards like tic tacs.

AB's is a lot of people's entry into craft. It took weeks or months before I decided, "I'm freaking ready for an Arrogant." Bought a bomber, made dinner, sat down and freaking loved it. It's big and brutal and will stretch your palate if it's never been that far.

Nowadays though I put down AB's like no business. Specially if they're on tap.

my intro was chimay blue, and stuff like duvel and la chouffe.

tried arrogant bastard at a bar one time because i'd heard it was the "serious american beer". couldn't stand it... bitter and sugary, just awful.

fast forward a few years and a thousand or so beers, and i think it's one of the 10 best american beers. perfect bold hop and bold malt balance. when considering "desert island beers," this one usually comes to mind.

edit: "thousand or two" means what i want it to, but sounds so stupid.

Arrogant Bastard is definitely "full flavored" . Now Double Bastard... well I'm a few years into craft, and that one still kicks my palette's ass.

To emphasize my lack of experience, AB was the 9th beer I EVER drank.

Lack of capitalization aside, you're one of few BAs who are more anal about grammar than I am.

I would say you are off to an excellent start.

I'm definitely keeping an eye out for what BA says about beers when I go to stores. It's only been about 2 weeks since I've started drinking beer.

I'd been drinking beer for about 25 years before I found out about BeerAdvocate. It's an excellent resource, you're lucky you found it when you did.

BA's weird insertion of single space in place of double space makes me allllllllmost consider switching out of my no-caps online writing style... but not quite. it's especially bad given all the long paragraphs, but then again maybe that makes it more excusable; chances are, no one's bothering to read those anyway, capitals or no.

It took my trying AB three times over a year and a half before I was able to drink a full one. Now I drink it on a fairly regular basis and I enjoy it immensely. Give it six months and try it again; you're palate may have changed by then.

If you're talking about two spaces between sentences, then I have zero sympathy. Unless you're actually typing on an IBM Selectric back there.

I look forward to trying this as I've recommended it to my boss a million times as a beer to stock. I work at that Cali based World import store and our beer selection needs improvement. We're supposed to get this in any day now, though i doubt it will ever arrive (lack of urgency is rampant here). If it comes in I'll give it a try and let you know what i think. So far I've drank at least half the beers we carry and many have been forgettable. Others i will never revisit: Stiegl...blech! :slight_frown:

First time I tried it, I really enjoyed it. So much so that the 750 was gone in 20 mins. I haven't bought any since, but I probably should.

bah, two spaces solves exactly the tiny problem that my lack of capitals introduces. i'm about freedom, not rigid adherence to rules. especially orthographic ones, good chomskyian and wittgensteinian that i am (i attack rules from two competing directions).

I was quite the palate when I hit the Arrogant and I still love the sweet smoothness of the whole thing. Double Bastard...that's another story
