I mis-judged how slowley the Mikk. stuff would go. I will try and get it on for tomorrow. It was more an excuse to put up the kermit trooper picture.

This is what I've become. Posting silly pictures on facebook to entice beer geeks to drink with me. Mum would be so proud.

You should come too Mr Hopswiller. I can't promise the wifey shanks for lunch but I can get you that beer I promised you.

It's now on. I got covered in Wychwood Hobgoblin for my efforts. No good deed and all that....

    I will see you tomorrow.

Would love to make it down, but I finally have a day off, and my day includes spending it in the kitchen cooking for a staff party on monday!

    (and making chilli sauce)
    (and building my curing chamber)

    Last night, I had:
    Oud Beersel Oude Gueuze
    Oud Beersel Oude Kriek
    Boon Gueuze
    Cantillon Kriek

None were sour... I have destroyed my palate :slight_frown:

I had an Oud Bersel Oude Kriek pretty recently. It's a weird one. Not tart and tastes like cough syrup. Relatedly, I had a Cantillon Mamouche earlier which was awesome, but it wasn't especially sour for me either. Also some Bigfoot and Hoptimum. Hoptimum is really more of a palate wrecker than Palate Wrecker. Super boozy in addition to bitter. Good, though.

parrotshake, was it the oud beersel oude kriek vieille or just the oud beersel kriek? if the oude kriek has changed to a lolly water version then i think a little part of me will die inside : (

I'm all about Sierra Nevada Hoptimum at the moment. Yeah it's brutal, but much more balanced than the Green Flash Palate Wrecker or Moylans XXXX IPA IMO.

It was the Vielle. I've never had it before so I don't have a reference point. It wasn't sweet like Lindemans or anything but it was just... odd. Funky and dry but mostly just tasting of artificial cherry. I bought the gueuze from the same store and it was fantastic.

Interesting - I'd rate them GFPW - Hopsickle - Hoptimum. In saying so, I like them all.

I'm not a huge drinker on this style of beer so bit hard to say, personally I didn't enjoy it but thats not too say its bad.
Definitely did have a lot of citrus though.

On the whole Moondog 'Berliner Weisse' thing, I don't think these are very good examples of the style. Regardless of what I think of the beers, from the very little I know about the style, they are nowhere near it. That being said, they aren't claiming to be either.... I think they would be better categorised as American Wheats if they had to be....

Yeah, they claim them as "berlinerweiss-esque".

They weren't sour enough. To me, they weren't sour at all.

Agreed. Nonetheless, they were very tasty. I particularly liked the Melon Gibson and the Billy Ray Citrus was nice on tap. The Kaiser Sauté (Imperial Peated Orange Oktoberfest thing) they did for Mrs Parmas was also delish.

MOA actually advertise their stout as 'Dark and acceptable to all palates. The Will Smith of beers.'

Not something that would entice me to buy it...

Tonight I'm going to sample some temple stuff. Their ESB, the smoked weizen, the pale and the 'peoples pint'.

Hopefully all goes well. Sadly, Mr Heygeebee, there will be no reviews.
