I bought a 4-pack of pint bottles of that Moa imperial stout a while back because it was something like $18 which seemed like a good deal at the time. Yeah, it's not very good. I got through a Beer Here Ammestout and Nordic Rye Ale while cooking dinner earlier. The Ammestout is delightful, the rye was nice but nothing I'd go back to. Also skulled a XXXX Summer Lager on the porch with my girlfriend's flatmate afterward, just because she offered. Fun.

Gambled on my wife liking Big Eye and bought a slab. She didn't, so lots of that.

Tried MoonDog/Beer Here Freaks and Geeks - good, more rye and peat than Beer Here's Nordic Rye. Not as out there as Canute the Gruit, though (how'd that strike you MrKennedy?).

FWIW, I really like Moa Imperial Stout.

And you questioned my consumption

Had Stone & Wood Amasia last night. Rather good and surprised no-one round here has mentioned it.

Also tried Hoptimum. Pretty underwhelmed. Wasn't alcoholic, or particularly hoppy. I find Sierra Nevada's hop taste is very similar across all their beers, and kinda muted (must be the whole cone hops). The only beers of theirs I've had which really worked are Celebration and Bigfoot (and Kellerweis if you're after a hefe).

Tonight I had Popperings Hommelbier and Gypsy & The Goat. That beer seems to be less enjoyable every time I have it.

Damn you and your tastings Mr K. In my head you're this beer wizard with access to everything, with just a flick of your wand. You're lucking to have him in the same city Mr Mulder1010.

I wish I had wizarding (that is clearly a word) powers.

Oh well.

Almost finished work, then home to my last two delicious bottles of delicious delicious Nogne-O (delicious) Sunturnbrew. I really do think it's delicious.

On that note, Temple's Smoked Weizen - delicious.
Temple's ESB - delicious
Temple's US Pale - not so delicious, but it's not their fault I need to be in the mood for pales and I just can't be when it's raining outside.

um fellas whats the g-o on the la fin du monde? too much sentiment (i.e. one of my first fave craft beers) has me storing my last bottle possibly longer than i should... am guessing you guys had one 2-3 yrs since bottling at least, had it gone to sherry-town, do not pass go, do not collect $200?

oops forgot the intent of thread. wetting whistle with fullers vintage for the first time (2010). something about the warmth and booze sweetness reminds of nothing but sink the bismark... am trying to figure out how this can be so given its only my 2nd beer today (And its only 8.5%). good times.

I shared a bottle that was at least 3 years old only a month or so back and it was exceptional. Still a few more Unibroues left in my collection... have had quite old Trois Pistoles and Quelque Chose in the past and all held up very well. Very well made and packaged beer that holds up well if stored well.

The Gruit was certainly out there, ok, but not something i'd rush back to grab...odd sort of sourness to it

Hahaha, it was one of those small nights that kept getting bigger and a case of "well, we can't finish on that"

The only bottle of Amasia that i've seen was an empty one down at the Great Northern Hotel in Carlton...didn't realise it was out then, let alone where to get it...i've since found out you could buy direct off S&W, but hadn't heard of any stores stocking it...not that i've been to too many bottleshops since i've been back

Ah no, by no means access to everything. My stash is a case of quantity over quality and it seems to breed. Don't forget, you live in Perth where the growler wizard works overtime with his wand:slight_smile:

Always good catching up with BA's and top people for beers. Everyone i've had tastings with is always generous in opening up some pretty brilliant things.

Mulder1010 picked this up when Unibroue ceased exporting out here...we guessed it would be something like 3-4 years old. Fair bit of floaties in it. Still tasted great, i thought it was every bit as good as having it fresh. Seemed to be a little less yeasty/spicy than i can remember fresher bottles to be. Definitely not sherry town. Some of the other bottles opened hadn't aged as gracefully as La Fin Du Monde...no prizes for guessing.
The Peoples pint sigh that should of been me lol but more to the point hows it tasting?
AROMA
BIG juicy fruit hop aroma, guava, lemon, touch of pepper. Malt sweetness
FLAVOUR
Mild bitterness, very well balanced with fruit cake malt sweetness. Surprisingly dry finish

These are the tasting notes I've put up for my pub. I think the pepper comes through more then a touch, but I'm not the red rye expert here.

On the whole, reviews have been good. A couple of people have said it wasnt that good, but they had the stench of Carlton Draught and TEDs about them. I think they imagined the 'Peoples Pint' was going to be more along the lines of that winery with their iphone app.

What was your idea Mr ADZA?

I missed the People's Pint, apparently Pumphouse had a keg, but it was gone last time i was in the vicinity.

Wake and Bake was great!! Exactly what you want from a coffee and oatmeal stout, could drink that for breakfast, easily! One of the best coffee beers i've had.

Hey Andrew,

I thought the warmth and booze sweetness was subtle and in a way much better then S the B.

The again the last time I had it was after we (my friends and I, not a royal we) had had several diff. types of stout, so anything 'non-stouty' I guess would of felt subtle.

Anyhoo, I've got a a couple of vintages at home 09, 10 and 11 (cue patiently waiting for Mr K to reveal his collection of Fullers 02-11, with several copies of each stored under diff. cellaring conditions to fully understand the variety and how awesome it can be....damn his wand!). Should we organise a vertical at some point?

Also, a case of 04 is only 82 pounds.....very tempting....

Would love to have a collection of Fullers 02-11, or even just a bottle of '97 to see if that has held up...but i'm a long way from that...just a single 08 bottle.

Those cases are very tempting, shame Fullers don't ship outside the UK.
