not Kriek, just a regular ol' Cable Car, and I'm not too concerned about vintage (unless there is a year that has issues in a bad way that I'm unaware of)

what's it gonna take? I've had a very hard time finding any records of COMPLETED trades

would some combo of the following get it done you think?

    Assassin
    NG Wild Peach
    St Lam
    ANTEAD set
    Le Sarrasin
    Vera Mae
    Genealogy of Morals (bourbon)

Also, if anyone has traded for, or traded a bottle of CC themselves, and cares to weigh in, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

I think a combination would get it done. These days it would seem that fresh Cable Car doesn't have the value that it used to. Most San Diegoans (Whale's Vagina!) who have them can buy a bottle for on-premise consumption at Toronado SD for a nominal price. Still, my guess is that it would take some highly sought after stuff- which Assassin certainly qualifies as; minor mention Le Sarrasin and Wild Peach. My guess is that it'll take these 3 that I just mentioned... the question is whether its worth it, and you can never know for sure until you try it.

Mark, I would recommend that you go after CC now instead when the new batch releases sometime this fall because it will go for more than it's worth at that time. I feel that if you are able to offer Assassin, Wild Peach & Le Sarrasin (or other limited HF) then you should have a good chance to get one.

thanks Ron. so CC goes for more than 2x what DDG would take, huh? hell that combo of 3 you noted would be 3x what it took for me to get DDG. wow. may have to rethink this lol

Well last year's batch cost $60 plus only like 10-15 cases were sold to go...Definitely worth more than DDG but it will be worth more than that once the '14 batch comes out I am sure.

I would guess CC does trade at about 3x DDG based on my experience. FWIW I also thought '09(everyone says this is the best and I agree)>'12>'10>>>>>>'13 IMO. A lot of people would probably switch '10 and '12 though. I honestly wouldn't trade a crazy amount for the '13. That being said I traded a '12 BVDL for a '12 CC + DDG a while back. I got quite a few messages though.

is the '13 bad, or just not as awesome as the earlier vintages, and do you attribute that to it simply not having enough time in bottle as of now, or something actually wrong with the beer that year?

I just want to taste Cable Car, not drink the best one in existence lol

I'm not sure why it wasn't as good, but it was definitely the worst of the bunch. There wasn't anything wrong with it and it may have just needed more time in the bottle, but '09 and '12 are two of my favorite AWA's ever (thought '10 was pretty great as well). I wouldn't put the '13 in that class.

Also, if I had the DB Huna or BA Abraxas I would probably do this.

LOL dont bother. CC is one of the most over rated beers I have ever had. I call it a good sucker beer. Meaning only suckers trade for them since its a poor mans gueuze that you can either order from Belgium or buy off the shelf.

I've heard that they used the better barrels of the base sour ale to blend DDG '13 so Cable Car '13 got shorted a bit. But that's just hearsay.

    so Cable Car '12 isn't worth CD10+Le Sarrasin+Norma?

How much did you like DDG? Personally, I thought Cable Car was better, but the margin was pretty small.

Then it might come down to preference. I was a bigger fan of the oaky vanilla character of Cable Car to the vinous aspect of DDG. That's just my take though.

unfortunately this may be a moot point...the offer was a team effort and the guy w/ Norma doesn't want to do it. I have to re-strategize now lol
