The Locals HINTS AND HAULS THREAD

I've never even bothered with that forum. It was way too intimidating when I was first getting going and now that I've established via a few BIF's, why bother?

 

Today's second arrival from @heystevec . He left me hints on the beers but I can't say I guessed any of them correctly.

Well played, sir. All new beers for me with the exception of the Resurgam, which is damn tasty. It's going to be a good weekend!

 

Round 1 and 2 participants, like this picture and I will use that random website number generator to pick a winner. Only 1 winner and you don't need to send anything back, LIF style. Only 1 bottle, no extras.

This year release was a surprise (no advance notice but some rumors), no lines to buy. It was a 2 bottle limit per customer. Had a few oz on tap, delicious.

Focal!! Now I have to check my BMs, I wrote everything I was going to send, no extra as a surprise and bummed you won't receive it till Tuesday even though it shipped this past Monday.

I agree, but I started there and didn't know what BIFs were at first. I found that posting your own threads was way better than trying to respond to others; I put up a FT: Tired Hands growler like 3 different times and found 10 great trade partners out of it. Apparently people who want TH growlers are just guys who like good beer, whereas people trading for bottles are whale chasers, oversimplifying I know but that's what I've gathered.

Long story short, post your own "locals for locals" in FT:ISO and you'll find people who are cool to work with, and if you can find guys in the right spots (WI, CA, MA, IL, etc) you can do quite well.

 

Extended my local LIF till 9:00 pm, with the Holiday this Mon it won't ship out as quickly as I wanted, will send out this Tuesday.

Of course it has a label and it is indeed beer.

This growler contains a beer I was extremely lucky to find on tap at this time of year. In fact my local beer store manager poured this specifically so I could have some and held it for me! My luck is your luck! Anyway so the story has it this beer was brewed off season specifically so this Columbus brewery could enter this beer in a national contest. I have to believe that this will win a big award. This would be my favorite beer if I were receiving this box (although it would be very close).

I'll flip around at least one more bottle at your request. Possibly two (hint catch me after my bottle share tomorrow night). Anyway request away.

Since the spirit of the LICC ME challenge is that you DON'T choose your partner I can't pick between anyone, so I'll just have to let you all figure it out.

 

My intuition tells me those bombers in the middle are both from Hoppin' Frog. This is just a guess of course, but I think you should prove me wrong and turn around the bottle next to the bottle in which the canine needs his thirst quenched!

 

The gold foil reminds me of Siberian Night and the bottle on the far right is shaped like an Almanac bottle. I'm sure neither bottling style is unique though.

 

A bit of clarification, please. Your original post on the subject of this LICC ME says you'll turn around 2 of the 8 beers, and are sending 6, leaving 2 (presumably those turned around, so as to preserve the mystery of what's going in the box) behind. It also seems to suggest that if it is your request that results in a bottle being turned around, you will get said bottle, whether you are the LICC ME trade partner, or not.

So, my question is, are you sending out 6 mystery bottles (or 5 mystery and 1 known if you end up turning around 3) and then also sending out 2 known bottles to the person or persons that amuse you enough to turn around a bottle (or including them as an extra/extras if the person to amuse you is also the target)? Do I understand this correctly? I wanted to write something entertaining more than I was trying to get free beer, so if I'm wrong there's absolutely no hard feelings, though if I'm right, I'll never turn down free beer.



tl;dr: Do I have this right: You're LIF'ing off 2 of the 8 to someone who entertains you enough to reveal them, and the remaining 6 go to a LICC ME trade partner?

I'm sending 6 beers in my LICC ME.

Anyone can ask to turn around the beers and not be committed to the LICC ME. I like to have everyone play in the sand box.

Once turned around those beers are guaranteed to be in the LICC ME. In addition to the beers that are turned around I will add some mystery beers to get the total to six.

The free beer stuff is all your wishful thinking (at least at the moment, I've ninja'd before and I'll ninja again.)

Oh and the beer was only out of the coolness of my fridge/cellar to take the pics, it never got anywhere near warm, we have high standards here at casa de kgncfl.

Ohhhhhhh .... that makes a LOT more sense, especially since you never said anything about it being a LIF and LICC ME. The bolded statement below sure made it sound like that though:
