It has a great creamy mouthfeel and that unique Faust yeast taste.

    Nate,

I am a fan of well brewed Kellerbiers. You and Tony have me ‘sold’ on Faust Kraeusen Naturtrueb.

    Cheers!

    Jack

If you are outside of Germany, I don't know how good your chances are to enjoy one.

I don't remember the Kräusen so well, but I have experienced the feelings that this beer evokes in you. Klosterbräu's Maibock, Schlenkerla's anything, Eck Bräu's Wilderer Dunkel, Kneitinger's Dunkel, Hoppebräu's IPA, Uerige Alt of course, Pilsners too numerous to list (including Faust's)...the list goes on, I'm sure there are many I'm forgetting. Keep drinking them while you have the chance!

    Edit: Wippra's Keller bier...

Were I a true pal here is what I'd have brought you: Uerige Alt (fresh), Waldhaus Ohne Filter Extra Herb, Eck Bräu Wilderer Dunkel x2, Faust Eisbock Holzfass, Hoppe Bräu IPA.

As it stands, however, I am a jerk.

Sorry "pal", won't be Stateside until… don't know really, probably next year. Still gotta finance my daughter's Christmas visit this year.

Also, though Nate's pics are absolutely fabulous, the beer DOES taste better than it looks.

Matt, thank you for composing such a wonderful list of beers. For me, it is the thought that counts.

As far as I am concerned you are indeed a pal!

    Cheers!

You just need to go to the source. It's easy. The D Bahn will drop you 1 mile from Zum Reisen!

A krug of fresh (like less than a minute old) pils right out of the wooden barrel in Würzburg, Germany (after a day of castle exploring along the River Main:

Awesome. My wife went to law school (undergrad) in Wuerzburg. Pales as a beer destination in comparison to Bamberg/Oberfranken, but still a great place. Faust's Fest looks perfect. Prost!

@-N8: I saw in the other thread you are headed to Bamberg next. When is that trip planned for? Whenever it is, get ready to experience true beer heaven!

Not sure - no date in mind really. It's just a short 2hr cruise up the autobahn from here, so it will likely be a random weekend trip.
