Ok so many people have vented concerns about the amount of "Where's the beer in Tampa/Orlando?" posts in the SA forum. While I know we are all generous BAs here in FL who want to help folks out, it gets kinda old answering the same questions daily.

SO, I'm taking a cue from the "Visiting Portland" thread in the Northwest forum that is updated seasonally. It's helped me out tremendously on my trips there, and kept me from posting redundant questions in the NW forum.

As a disclaimer, I do NOT live in Tampa or Orlando, but I visit both very often. That being said, I will be happy to "moderate" this thread, but I will need help from local Tampa/Orlando BAs to stay current and relevant. If you think I'm missing something, please PM me or post below the main post. If I've left something out or something new has opened(c'mon Angry Chair!) let me know, and I will adjust accordingly. Next update will be autumn on September 1.

Sorry if I am stepping on anyone's toes, or if I didn't step on toes that you thought needed stepping on. I went back at least 50 pages in the SA forum to see what BAs most often recommended in these towns, and I based my post on those findings. Your favorite brewery/bar/bottleshop may not be listed due to this. As I see places being recommended more/less, I will add/delete them. They do not reflect any personal bias.

Agreed. Extremely helpful. Does anyone know if Cycle still has kegs of Nooner, or RareR Dos that they will put on at random throughout the year? I seem to remember them popping up from time to time on their chalkboard, but was not sure if it was for a certain event or just a surprise tapping.

During their first year downtown they would occasionally put BA beers on tap from time to time. Doesn't happen often. At first they didn't write them on the board. You had to ask if anything BA was available. After awhile they stared putting listing them on the board on the rare occasion they had one on tap. I always ask either way. Most of the time the answer is "no", but it's more than worth it to ask.

Hopefully we will be able to add Coppertail to the list for the Winter update! I've enjoyed a lot of their brews at recent beer festivals.

I agree that SS absence is odd. I just didn't count many people recommending it in the forums.

Ill be down in Tampa for a few days in October with a day in Orlando for Universal. Plan on hitting up Cigar City the Tuesday I get down there and exploring Tampa. Have a friend in Ybor so I will probably be there most of the night. Wednesday I hope to stop at atleast 7venth Sun and Cycle. Rapp if my girlfriend doesnt want to kill me for dragging her around with some exploring in between. Does 7venth Sun normally have bottles of any kind on hand? I follow them on instagram and see random bottle releases and would like to bring some home for myself and friends. Are there any releases I should keep an eye out for that normally land around the 3rd week of October? Thanks in advance this thread is going to be a huge help while I'm in town!

Making the trip to Cigar City, Rapp, & Cycle today. Any last minute updates or things I can't miss?? I also checked out that site to see what "kid friendly" breweries are in the area. Cigar City didn't pop up, do the not allow kids?

Kids are fine. They might get bored, but they are fine. Bring their favorite electronic device to keep them occupied.

Nice. My family lives in Ocoee as well.

And this is a great list. Covers the Orlando area well. My dad and I found a decent beer selection at the ABC right there in Ocoee also.

    Awesome list.

Love to see a version 2.0 where it breaks out North of Orlando vs. South of Orlando.

That's just my perspective since I am up in Lake Mary/Sanford.

The World of Beer (WOB) in Lake Mary was great - really nice taps and bottles.

The ABC Fine Wine & Spirits had a decent beer selection as well as poured 32 oz growlers (Grabbed some Funky Buddha and Pensacola IPAs)

Couple of additions that are newly opened and very worthwhile. There is a new World of Beer in downtown Orlando, awesome location right on Lake Eola and if the weather is nice they have a great outside area. Being new, the crowds have been very big thus far but I imagine that will die off a bit as the novelty wears. And in Tampa, Angry Chair (brewery) is now finally open and they make excellent beers. Just my two cents as a local, have a feeling both will be on the recommended list shortly.

Wholeheartedly agree with the Angry Chair recommendation! Was there last weekend and only had 5 beers on tap, but all were awesome. German Chocolate Cupcake Stout.....very nice!

Thank you for putting this together. I grew up in Winter Park (next to Orlando), but haven't kept up on the beer scene there since moving away over a decade ago. Will be spending xmas week there and will definitely check out some of the places on the list. I do have fond memories of Redlight Redlight in its original location on New England ave (two locations ago) way back in the day!

Random question: many years ago I went to a bottle shop with my brother (this was before I got into beer but he dragged me along). It was about 30 minutes or so outside of Winter Park off of 50. Can't remember the name, but they had an awesome Belgian selection (he was after Fantome). Any idea what that was? Thank you!

Thanks for leaving feedback! Winter update is in a couple of weeks. Keep the recommendations coming, and please if you see a recommendation that you agree with, second it. This is what gets breweries/bars/bottleshops/etc...added to the list. Glad to see AC is finally open. Haven't made it up yet, but have immensely enjoyed their brews at festivals these past couple of years.

WOB Lake Mary has been good to me the couple of times I've visited.(Most WOB have not been).

That Lake Mary ABC off Rinehart Rd is stellar. Discovered it by accident a couple of years ago while driving down I-4 and slid off the interstate to check it out. Now I make it a point to stop there any time I'm passing through. Great recommendation.

As for the N.vs S. Orlando, that would take someone with a little more Orlando expertise to figure out. Besides those two places we just discussed, I personally have experience with nothing else in the area.

Curious why Rapp isn't listed among the top breweries in the area when you click on places>Florida>Tampa. Has anybody noticed that brewery is missing from the list?
