The second bottle release is ready! We hope you will enjoy our Rum Barrel-aged Da un Beso a la Botella Tropical-style Imperial Export Stout. This beer is a bigger version of an export stout and has aged gracefully in rum barrels from our friends atWicked Dolphin Distillery.

Tropical-style imperial export stout ale aged in rum barrels
Started in 2012, Wicked Dolphin Distillery is located just miles from the fertile sugarcane fields of Florida in Cape Coral. Wicked Dolphin Rum was born out of an idea for a true Florida rum. Using 100% Florida sugar and local ingredients, their rum is handcrafted in small batches using an American copper pot still, the largest in South Florida.Their award winning rum is then aged in American white oak once-used bourbon barrels that held premium aged Kentucky Bourbon for 3 to 14 years. The family-run distillery produces award-winning rums available throughout Florida. You can also visit the distillery where you are able to tour, taste, and see how this premium rum is made. Wicked Dolphin Distillery will re-use the barrels in which Da un Beso a la Botella aged and we can't wait to see what they come up with to keep the cycle going!
This is release number two of your five guaranteed barrel-aged beers and it is available for pickup now. As with all bottles and your glass, you have until 30 days after the fifth and final barrel-aged bottle release to pick this up in the tasting room.

Every time CCB mentions tropical in the name that usually means it's amazing. I still dream of Forgotten Island.

I still have one of those in my closet. Thinking of drinking it soon. For me it was one of those rare beers that actually improved after a few months on the shelf. It was drinking a bit hot when first released IMO.

Perhaps it's just me, but isn't it a bit odd to announce Release #2, when we haven't been able to buy the additional Release #1 yet?

Many brewers experience growing pains with Internet sales, but the El Cat fees went up this year to cover the cost of this "upgrade". Of course, all will be forgiven it one of the El Cat beers is a re-release of Leon.

i don't find it odd at all...

    Additional Bottle Update
We have been going back and forth for weeks now with our website developers and unfortunately we still do not have a great solution to host additional bottle sales. We appreciate the ideas many of you have mentioned, but because of the way our site is built, no plan is without flaws. We will continue to work toward a solution that works for everyone and we will send you an update with all the details as soon as we're ready. Thanks for your patience while we work this out!

I kissed the bottle. That's a jawbreaker song.

    Anyway, this sounds awesome.

I got the email too. It's still odd to me that they'd release the next beer before Release 1 and Granmule sales had been resolved.

Didn't they sell more bottles of don gavinos and illuminating the path at the same time? Meaning the following bottle came out before they offered sales of the previous. Not to mention, they don't have to have the site fixed to release the next bottle

I second this! I would rather them wait six months, focus on making the one bottle we get of our five guaranteed beers awesome, work on extra sales IF you have spare time. I don't really care if they even offer extras if they make our payed for five beers awesome. As for this beer I have high hopes but I have been burned by rum BA brews in the past so we will wait and see. Anyone try it yet?

Tried it last night... Good, not great. No cognac sweet stout.

Also tried grand mule, reminded me of ba Jose Marti. Too much barrel not enough beer.

I agree that I'm not a huge fan of the rum barrel. I, unfortunately, haven't had the pleasure of rarer dos, though. Which I hear is an excellent example.
