BarrelWorks in Buellton is a really short drive from Santa Barbara. You should just go up there one day and get it straight from the source, was 23.99 when I stopped in last week. Plus you can stock up on all their other awesome beers and taste a ton of good limited stuff.

Take into consideration that even at that price, this beer will never be made again. Get it while the getting's good if you can stomach the price.

Yeah I got a "Christmas" discount on my purchase when I bought it last year. I also got a bottle for my friend and I specifically remember the crap he gave me, especially 2 months later when I showed up with BA Framminghammer. He said, oh are all delicious barrel aged beers not $21?

My friend who got one for me paid $26.99 in the Denver area several months ago.

    Get that shit!

Finding it for under $20 seems like a stretch. I got two of the 17th last year for @ 24.99 each. All the other FW barrel aged releases are usually around $16 to $18.

If money isn't an issue then I wouldn't even think twice about picking it up. As for trade bait? They don't make a lot but it does get distributed pretty widely so your gonna have to find someone who just missed the boat. Its not like its a regional speciality that someone would have to drive or fly out to get - aka someone will want it but it might take a bit to find that person.

At the prices posted above, it sounds like Firestone is going to a very merry 17th anniversary!

The 17 is $24 at the barrelworks now, so that price is not too bad. It would be very very hard to find under $20.

It's above market price when it was released... but maybe they're trading on the "vintage" aspect of it a little bit. If it's been refrigerated I'd say it's still worth it, if it's not an unreasonable purchase for you. If you haven't had it, it may be the time to get it - as XVIII is coming out shortly.

HOWEVER, Since you're in SB if you only want to taste it, you could probably wait for the XVIII release, as I'd be willing to bet that Barrelworks would have XVII on tap alongside XVIII at least for a day or two. It's a gamble, but one I'd make.

Pretty sure I paid $23-$24. $30 is a bit high but nothing I'd be too upset about. like many said, 18 is coming soon and that will be come "vintage" and drive the price up. Get it and skip Starbucks once next week.

    Yep CitoRats forever.

Thanks for all the great info everyone this website is filled with good people willing to share knowledge. I read thru the reply's and went to the B shop and drove away without buying it. I kept thinking it was like buying a bottle of bourbon for $500 bucks! which I don't do. Then half way home I said aw screw it and went back. I have a great BBQ in two days with a couple good friends who will enjoy and appreciate it. Also got the &ucaba for 17 and a Grand Cru.

Welllll Mark and Brian the owners have been know to fib a little on what they have. I asked and he said " those are the last two, I sold one to a guy last week for $49" These guys have a sliding scale based on who you are. There are quite a few wealthy people here so he gets what he can. I have seen him charge a certain richy rich guy 499 for a bottle of Diageo orphan barrel old blowhard which is normally in the 150 to 250 range.

Yikes! I ask cause I was short a bottle of Parabola for a future trade...I walked in there when I was up there for work and saw a bunch of parabola and grabbed one. $25! Damn, who knew I got the good guy rate.

If you think $15 Parabola is is fair, $22 XVII would be proportionate.

I did think it was pretty good, but if you're in CA I'd just hang tight for the next round.
