Noticed an ad in the Sept Beer Advocate for a new DIPA being released early 2015 from Lord Hobo in Woburn. Any other details floating around?

Well, as of three hours ago they received their approval and posted their hours on Facebook. Don't know when they officially open though.

Please , please , please, let the actual name of the serious IPA be "Boom Sauce".
If it is, I promise to try to buy the first case off of the line.
(And good luck with the NIMBY)

Only if you can beat me to the front door, Jeff.

    Good luck with that.

Does anyone have any information on the actual opening date? This is right near my house, pretty exciting if they are going to be putting out quality stuff.

    Hey Folks,

I've been holding off doing any sort of official announcements but I can shed some light on the above questions.

We have 46,500 sq ft in Woburn, at 5 Draper St.
Our Retail zoning was approved with hours of Mon-Thur 4-9, Fri 4-10, Sat 12-10, Sun 12-6.
We will have a Retail store selling cases, growlers etc... as well as a bar room with 80+ seats.
Our Brewhouse and Fermenters arrive Nov 17 from DME in Nova Scotia.
It's a 4 vessel 40 BBL. We are sourcing Foeders and building a Coolship.
Our focus will be on Hoppy Beers, Saisons, and Sours.

We are starting to hire our team now.

We hope to be pouring beers in January.

Our Flagship IPA is in fact called BOOMSAUCE, and it will be in 16 oz cans.

I'll hold off on providing too much more info until we get closer to opening.

    Thanks for the interest.

    Best

    Daniel

The location in Woburn sounds great, too. I love visiting all the Boston based breweries and bars but trying to find parking, pay for street parking, and battle all the road construction & traffic down there can be quite a hassle.

We have 92 parking spots, plus on street parking. Parking should not be a problem.

We are doing 10 spots for "10 minutes or less" right out front so you can pull up, run in, grab a case, and be back on your way in minutes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought this was going to be exclusively a contract brewery?

That original plan was scrapped when raising $18M left me with little control over the direction of the company.

However, because we have so much space, we will likely do some contracting for our friends.

The Globe has more details on this today: Lord Hobo Brewing Co. on an IPA mission

    Excerpt:
Lanigan will hire three brewers to produce IPA the way he envisions it. He’s trademarked a flagship brew, Boom Sauce, to lead a series of half a dozen or so India Pale Ales. Also on tap is a sour beer program, housed in its own wing of the brewery and featuring a stainless steel coolship (a vessel used to inculcate wild yeast into a beer) that folds into the wall like a Murphy Bed. Lord Hobo Brewing will also brew saisons, eschewing stouts, porters, and other popular styles to focus on a select few. The brewery will feature an 80-seat tap room — same as Lord Hobo — as well as a retail space

Very intriguing, will definitely check this out. I really like that he is trying to make a great New England IPA that will actually be available.

I'm quite interested in this as well with it being in my hometown. The location is only a few miles from the neighborhood I grew up in.

Very interesting. I'm all for another great IPA in 16oz tall boy format! I guess driving to Woburn is better than Monson, Waterbury and Freeport.
