Hey Everyone I'm pretty new here, I was a somewhat casual craft brew drinker for a while, but in the last year I've been diving in a little deeper, and starting to cellar some beers and searching out rare and more interesting stuff.

I'm heading on vacation to CO in a week and wanted to know what I should try while I'm there. The one thing I know I'm going to do is Get a few bottles of the YETI varieties from Great Divide since we don't get them here in MI and I'm a big Imperial stout fan as of late. Beyond that I'm not sure what else I should pick up or Breweries I should check out that dont distribute to MI.

I don't have a huge budget, maybe $100-$150 to spend on bottles to bring home so Let me know what the must haves from CO are!

    Thanks

Search this forum, lots of similar recent threads that will give you tons of info. Also check out the stickied GABF thread, it has a lot of what to do info in it.

If you like stouts pick up some Ten Fidy cans.

There might also be some of Dry Dock's new BA Imperial Stout on shelves. That would be a good bottle to grab.

While I know it's not a local, it should be made known that Dogfishhead's World Wide Stout is very easy to find here. I know that's not always the case in every market it's distributed to...especially from the Midwest where I'm originally from.

In addition to Ten Fidy and Yeti, I suggest Big Bad Baptist from Epic. The coffee flavor can be a bit bitter depending on the batch, but BBB is very solid.

If you don't get Uinta, Labyrinth is pretty damn good, and easily found. I'd never had it until yesterday (and today). I'd say it's like oak-aged yeti on steroids. Fuck, it's good.

Only the shelves of a CO BA's basement. Good thing a new release is only a few months off.

Agreed, BBB is a GREAT beer, they just need to stop marketing BBB as barrel aged, since I BARELY get any bourbon out of this one anymore (at least the last 3 times i've tried it)...

I guarantee you that I barrel age BBB. It's almost all bourbon when we drink it straight from the barrel. It's pretty well dosed up on choc/coffee tho

Couldn't agree more. That beer doesn't get the attention it deserves. It might even be my favorite RIS. It also ages rather well if you have the patience to hang on to it for 2-3 years.

Bull and Bush just put out their CBC #2, Bourbon Barrel Aged Ice Cream Clone Milk Stout.
I just finished my first one and it's pretty great.

It can be purchased at Bull and Bush, Grapevine and Mile High Liquors

I think Hammer & Sickle at Renegade is outstanding, maybe the best RIS from a local small brewer. Had one last night. I don't believe this is in their can line up though, so it would be growler fill as the only option for off-premise consumption...
