yeah i'm just being a wuss, i know. as vocal as i can be, this is clearly not all about me, so you guys set it up for when and how you see fit and i'll have to figure out if i can play along. on the plus side, at least "locals" generally does not involve "super expensive" or "takes extra resources to acquire"

I'm up for whatever, but totally in. Also, remember, Iowa kicks off 2:30 Central Saturday. Have your entries in by then. Score of all four teams for Vikings v Patriots, Iowa v Iowa State.

Steve you're totally correct on the Whirlpool. I'll find out, before long, about the Morph as well.

Wow -- I haven't gotten any notifications for some reason recently, or would have been responding to stuff. I agree that I thought this would be an October event, but I can definitely start setting things up this weekend (my wife is out of town for a week, so I probably would have gotten around to doing this anyway).

So I will send out something in the next few days (definitely by the end of the weekend) soliciting inputs. For now, I have a pretty long list of participants from rounds 1 and 2, plus other people who expressed interest, and I have spammed (and will again) Hastur's group.

In the first round, I think we had a theoretical target of 144 ounces, and a theoretical limit of 225 ounces (this is from memory, and the emphasis is on "theoretical"), the average ended up being in the 260-270 ounce range. So do we want to keep the same rules and assume we will ignore them again? Or do we want to increase the amount we say we're gonna ship, and then go ahead and blow that number out of the water instead?

Also -- any other thoughts to make it even more interesting? We will obviously keep the focus on the locals; do we want to add brewery swag? Any other thoughts?

A t-shirt and/or glassware addition to the box would be fun.

I actually had my first experience with Hill Farmstead last weekend -- a local craft beer tasting room had Arthur on tap, I brought a growler home and thought it was amazing -- and I'm normally not a big saison fan. And yesterday at noon they tapped Hill Farmstead Earl -- last I heard they were not doing growler fills, but I'm stopping on my way home today to at least try some. I'm hoping this becomes a weekly occurrence or something.

Oh great, another thing that will totally distract me for an hour. I'll be getting my guess in sometime soon! And while I don't care much about the Iowa/Iowa State game I'll be rooting hard for the Vikes on Sunday.

I would say keep it 144-225 ounces and have people "try" to stay under the max.

Sounds good -- I will post something probably tomorrow evening or Saturday morning -- and this is good timing since I may be hitting a few local breweries in the next week or so.

We have done swag in the Hastur's BIF and everybody enjoyed it.

    I am in again
I agree with a swag addition
I also think the same oz min/max as last time is a good starting point

Losing notifications happens a lot, gotta keep responding or BA takes them away! Weird, I know.

I'm personally in favor of keeping it smaller rather than larger; don't want any hurt feelings if someone sends 500oz and only gets 200oz. If the expectation is a smaller box and you send out 500oz anyway, that's on you (*cough* @Mipper *cough*).

Regarding non-beer items: Everyone loves brewery swag, and/or I was also thinking we could add local food treats. I know any box @heystevec sends out will include crab chips, and I think it'd be cool of more people did the same.

If it's an October shipping window it could be candy-themed (not that it couldn't be chips ) or if it's November it could be Thanksgiving themed (no clue how that would work, shut up).

    edit: welcome back Mike!

Yeah I know my personally being on a budget my box won't be a crazy one, but I also won't be shooting for the bare minimum. I'd also personally few like a jackass if I sent, say, a 170-180oz box (realistically probably where mine will end up) and received a 300+ozer

If you open that Night Stalker soon, gotta let me know what you think. I've had it fresh and it was pretty damn awesome. I've also had it 18 months old in bottle and also really loved it. But I recently had it on draft and I did not care for it this last go round. I've still got a bottle and now am a bit worried about opening. Just hope something was wrong with the line and the bottle will still taste great even though the hops are long gone.

Oh, and that's a sick box @kgncfl, always with the hook up!

I couldn't have said it better.

This means I have to take a ride to Kane.
I just hit a Tired Hands release. But I'll miss the upcoming Emptiness soft release. Pre-emptive sorry for that.
I'm going to Boston in 2 weeks and VT/NH in early October, so I might be a bit outside of strictly local...

Hey @mklisz are you anywhere near Keane?
