We had a '12 bottle last month and it was excellent.

About an hour away. Is that where you'll be in October?

I was actually thinking something similar -- like a Halloween theme -- you could include a pumpkin beer, or candy, or whatever. We can probably leave that up to the sender. I do NOT want to receive turkey parts though.

Can you imagine a "trick or treat" theme -- a great trick would be drinking a bunch of good stuff (thereby emptying the bottles), then putting Bud Light in the bottles and recapping them.

Yup. Pumpkinfest at Keane. We have a friend in the admin at Keane College.

We'll probably stay in Brattleboro on Thursday and Friday. Maybe drive up to HF on Friday morning.

Are any of you East Coast guys familiar with Moat Mountain? My buddy is going to be stopping by there some time this weekend and asked if I was interested in anything. Wanted to see if there were any recommendations out there.

I've been there a few times. Good beer but nothing that really stands out as being great. Their pale, iron mike, is pretty good as well as the bone shaker brown.

I've also seen cans around me of their session ipa, blueberry, Oktoberfest and helles lager.

I love the local "trick or treat" theme.

At least 2 seasonal locals, Halloween Candy and some local swag.

I was going to include at least one pumpkin beer anyway, so a theme works for me, although I figured this round would be geared more towards pumpkin ales/oktoberfest and related beer styles anyways.

Glassware/brewery swag is a good idea.

I was planning on including this in the next round. That's appropriate, right?

I know one of the brewers, Scott. He's the man and (if he's there and has time) will chat beer non-stop! Iron Mike and the October are both very solid. But like @mklisz said, nothing freakishly outrageously wait in lines for days from them. Just solid craft beers

Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it. Sounds like decent beer, but probably not worth the luggage space and trouble schlepping back. I'll tell him to save the room for something more important.

I think this would qualify as a trick?

A couple of friends of mine were talking about drinking it. They were debating whether it tasted more like Fruit Loops or Tang...

I've never gotten complaints about spending too much money on beer (but that's probably because she doesn't realize how much I spend). I get complaints about the quantity of beer I have in my basement (some of that might be justified). And I have recently started collecting packing materials and boxes and squirreling them away in my workshop/unfinished side of my basement -- last weekend I got a "I think those boxes you have downstairs are having babies" comment, along with threats to throw them away :-(. So one of my projects while my wife is out of town (besides organizing my beer, setting up this BIF, and hitting a few breweries) is reorganizing/consolidating all my packing materials.

Their Summer Shandy is probably the worst beer I've ever had (I just checked, and it is my lowest rated ever), although I'm not a Shandy fan in general. I actually have one of their beers (Leinenkugel Red) on my wants, because I remember having it a few years ago at a pizza place in Michigan, and really liking it -- that was before I was into craft though, so my frame of reference was different and I set the bar low. But I was back at the same bar a couple of weeks ago hoping to order it and they didn't have any.

That's the backup as I've got several bottles. I'm going to try for something special. We'll see if the brewery in question cooperates.

I almost forgot about this -- I don't want to Price as Right anybody, and my original guess would have really squozen into a tight space here. So I will go with 115, root for any Pats and Vikes on my fantasy teams extra hard, and hope that the Iowa-Iowa State game goes into overtime.
