I headed up to Colorado for my cousin's wedding next weekend. We fly in on Thursday the 18th in the morning, stay in Boulder that night and head to Vail Friday for the rest of the weekend. Is there was anything going on the 18th and 19th in Boulder and possibly Denver? Or in Vail that weekend?

Any time in particular to avoid driving out to Vail on Friday? I was hoping to be able to hit Crooked Stave "on the way."

The thought was to hit Upslope, Avery and Mountain or Southern Sun on Thursday depending on who has something good on and what might be happening around town? Somewhere in there we might go hike as well...

Driving up to the mountains on i-70 is a nightmare on Fridays but you can avoid most of it if you head out before 3pm or so. Search around for things that may be going on, breweries are constantly doing events around here.

Start your day with a hike up the first flatiron on Thursday. It's beautiful, gives you amazing views of Boulder, right in town, and is out-of-towner friendly.

Thanks! Any good bottle shops to pick up some nice sours or other beers difficult to find in Texas? After chatting with my group it sounds like I might not be able to get to Crooked Stave this trip so Id love to buy some or even trade for the right bottles.

In Boulder, go to Hazel's or Liquor Mart, they'll have the best selection. Then go to Avery. Then...no more then. That's all you need! Don't forget to check out what's pouring in the back bar at Avery.

Monday thru Saturday happy hour at Backcountry Brewery in Frisco kicks ass! Was just there this past weekend with a few other friends and our bill was only $45! Half price appetizers plus solid beer, $3 pints!

Avery is releasing their barrel-aged Pumpkin Porter on the 21st, so you may want to stop back by on that day if you can.

Hmm bummer, dont think we will be able to make it by boulder on the way to the airport. Im hoping to find some great sours to bring back to Texas while we are in Boulder. Super excited to be there Thursday, if anyone has tips on who has what in this week Id love to know.

Im looking for a way to kill time on our drive from the airport to Boulder so we can go to Crooked Stave at noon. Are there any cool places to go to and where would be a great place to get lunch near there? I'm open to non beer places, the people going with me like beer well enough but aren't beer nerds. We fly in at 8:30

Lunch at the Source (where CS is located). Acorn is amazing, and if you want Mexican, Comida is in there as well. Very cool spot.

Thanks, those look pretty great. Is there anything historical in the area to do or otherwise interesting. Especially before 11? I'm pretty sure we will eat at one of those places but two of them don't open until 11 and I'm guessing we wont kill an hour or two in the source.

I don't know about historic down that way, but you could easily kill an hour at the REI flagship store on Platte and 15th...seriously, it's awesome (if you like outdoors stuff, of course). You can check out Confluence Park right there too, nice little place to walk around. The re-done Union Station is open I think, but I haven't checked it out yet (hearing good things so far, though). You can always walk the 16th Street mall, but personally I don't find that all too exciting (big tourist thing to do though, so maybe it's fun the first time).

Made it back last night with quite a haul. Thanks for all your suggestions! The REI Flagship store was great and gave us plenty to do until the Source opened. Acorn was great for lunch and Crooked Stave did not disappoint. Boulder was wonderful, we had some amazing beers there. Vail was mostly cool and beautiful, nothing substantial in way of beer.
