What's up nbs. Getting this out of the way before the jets game which is sure to have me drinking heavily. My new beer is Long Irelands Polish Town Pilsner. A really cool offering to celebrate 40 years of the polish town festival held in my town. Being 36 I've just about been to all of them. Bottles are only available at the brewery and they had like 20 left.

Aside from the cool/sentimental value the beer is pretty damn good. The pour is golden, with a clean and hoppy nose. It has a sweet start with a smooth, flavorful, and hoppy finish. Really enjoying this right now. Mouth feel is spot on. Not light or watery but also not sticky. The first lager offering from these guys and I would put it in the 4/4.5 range overall,

Hi everyone adn Cheers ! I am back from an unexpected trip to CT where I had the good fortune to be able to try some Two Roads. I have been dying to try them and it was wroth it. They have a solid lineup of well crafted beer that in my opinion has given particular attention to ti's presence in the glass.

Each style was met except of course for hte ol factory pils. That one is dry hopped BUT it's still the "right kind" of hop presence that was evoked. It was simply a bit too strong. You know how I am fussy about my pils. IMO it lost it's breaddiness to the dry hopping and it was too bitter.

Their hefeweizen was lovely. Perfect color and a light as air bubblegum with fresh ripe banan that perfectly balanced with the crisp thin malt. A touch of honey, dry crisp wheat. Light and faint stone fruits and smelled like clover. really enticing. and colorful int eh nose as much as in the glass.Soft clove and a perfext finish.

The workers comp saison was an instant hit with me. Brut dry, a bitter that almost was sharp but then just not. Dry with a subtle hops finish. Light fruity middle and floral with a lemony tartness. Sunshine on hay.

Roadsmary's baby is delicious!. I do not usually like cinnamon in beer but this malt was soft and yet braod, supple and sweet, biscuit caramel and cinnamon. Not a lot of allspice nutmeg and what you would call pumpkin pie. It had those but much less than the usual and it was the cinnamon and biscuit with the caramel that drove me wild in this one. Dry middle , dry finish, a delicous buttery touch.

In all two roads beer there was an approach to malt and to the idea that the balance in the beer, the presence of malt is important. They had a very good selection fo styles except they were a bit light in the one offs or bomber sizes. There is a barrel aged something or other but I did not find it and one other bomber.

Road jam was the favorite of my companions. Dry lightly sweet and lightly tart. Has the delightful perfume and taste of fresh raspberries. Pwdery dry , good body and very bubbly. An easy hit with anyone .

Road to ruin was the frist beer of theirs I tired and the one I drnak the most but failed to take any notes on. It's darn good is all. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

    Cheers NBS !

I just figured out what this beer tastes and smells like: Lily flowers. That's the musty smell, and it's in the taste as well. Very odd.

Okay, I've had the ridiculous portion of today's festivities. Now it's time for (hopefully) Part 1 of the sublime:
    http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/701/135174/?ba=woemad
Is it a flavor bomb, or the most complex beer ever?
    No.
Is it extremely well balanced and ridiculously drinkable?
    Check.
If Boundary Bay was within reasonable driving distance, I'd totally load up on this, but I suspect BeerTunes already has!
    Thanks, man!

another new one on me. word of advice, this became markedly better the warmer it got. first couple of sips were fairly muted. refreshing albeit, but it was sort of like a pale with obvious added octane. the pumpkin and subtle spices show up at room temp. none overbearing either. while i could easily detect the brandy & whiskey nuances, not much barrel wood was present imho. this transformed from another "just o.k." into a strong like.

Thank you. Yes indeed. I'll figure out the photo piece sometime this week! With the cool weather I'm thinking something Scottish- Will they then be independent or part of Great Britain?

Maybe you didn't watch them against the Seahawks.
(Too soon, Packer fans? FWIW, I expected a close game - A.Rodg. is for my money the best QB in the NFL at this point).

Good morning! It is almost noon here in WA. Football is on along with the FIBA placing round games. I am enjoying this I received in a trade with @Gerbs2.
A great offering from Toppling Goliath and my first Iowa beer.
I chose an IPA this morning since its nice a sunny and unseasonably warm for NW WA. Also packing up several boxes for trades as well. I hope my NFL team doesn't poop on themselves today like they did last week.

    Cheers BA!

Like the glass bro. You have an awesome eye for pint glasses. Also liked one you posted the other day as well.

3 newbies so far today while watching the Pats:

    1) Night Shift Sour Tea [750ml] ("sour interpretation of their Bee Tea"): I really liked it. It was different and unique, to be sure, but I thought excellent for what it was. Subtle tartness and honey, considerable tea presence.

    2) Riverwalk IPA: where do I begin? This was a near perfect IPA. A bit harsh on the alcohol when too cold, but as it warmed, the dankness and brightness of the beer really began to shine. Really a top notch offering.

    3) Mystic Flight of the Earls: Strange. I want to like it, but it comes off as more of a smokey flavor, and certainly less of an Irish Stout as expected. As it warms, it gets slightly better, but not by much. I'm actually a big fan of Mystic (think they're considerably under-rated), but this is a miss so far.

I watched every painful minute of the game and I fully expect the Pack to roll the jets by 10+. The seahawks defense is elite and they were at home, opening the season after winning the Super Bowl. I could be wrong but doubt it

Good question! If they wanna be independent, great, but I'm at a loss as to what would economically sustain a "Republic of Scotland." I just don't think I can buy enough wee heavies to help them out! A hundred years ago, when they were building practically half of all the ships in the world might have been better timing for them.

To properly add to this thread, I knew what I had to open once I read the amazing @cavedave's opening remarks. It is a 2012 Rivertown Ville De Rivere Geuze.

Even with a slightly vigorous pour there was almost no head and no retention. The smell is that of tart, sour apples in a very good way. It also looks just like apple juice which is also a great taste description. This geuze is quite dry and quite oaky.

Lastly I must thank a great BA, @Treebute, for the bottle!

Actually I agree with that assessment, and if it goes the other way something is seriously out of whack. Still, I'd say GB really needs to work on it's OL in the coming off-season. Good offensive linemen are the most underappreciated guys on the field - amply illustrated to all Seahawks fans when Seattle's then-braintrust paid Shaun Alexander and decided Walter Jones would last forever while letting Steve Hutchinson go to the Vikes.

First time with this version of Stone Smoked Porter. Smoke and char heavy upfront, followed by a quick touch of caramel roasted malt. The chipotle comes in at the end, just a bit subdued, it really makes itself noticed between sips. Peppery tingles on the lips and tongue. Overall, another good beer by Stone. I would would love to pair this with a steak. Nicely done...

Flight of the Earls has improved with some warmth. Still too smokey on the nose and palate, though.

Sorry NBSers but I love delving into Pack talk.

I agree their OL is a mess right now, though pre-season injuries and rookies being thrown into starting positions doesn't help. I'd have no problem with them using their first four picks in the next draft on the OL as well as addressing it via FA as well.

Carry on with new beers folks!
