I'm a big fan of beer generosity. Extras in trades are one thing, but gifts are another. I end up drinking maybe 25% of the Gandhi Bot I get my hands on; the rest gets porch-bombed.

Hoarding beer is delicious, but it's better to share the wealth. And yes, Karma is real; you'll get yours in return, no worries, but it's not about that. It's about a strong sense of community, and generally just being a good person.

I beervanglize whenever I can, which usually involves giving away copious amounts of beer.

I received freely, I give freely. I just beer it forward. If I know someone hasn't had a certain brew and I have one bottle left, I give it away.

    P.S. Great Thread!

I try to bring good and interesting stuff to my poker night. Since I'm the only one who regularly brings beer (other than the host), I try to mix it up a bit.

Of course, my poker host has a giant beer fridge that is always totally stocked. I consider "bringing beer to Eric's" to be an even more emphatic term than "carrying coal to Newcastle".

Of course I will include extras in trade, and I have occasionally just gifted some beer shipments, but the place where I share the love the most is when I get my hands on beer from out of my distro area and hand a bottle/can or two to a friend who hasn't had it.

Often times, I will purchase a larger quantity of a given beer than I might have otherwise with the thought that I can then afford to give a few singles away and let someone discover a beer they haven't had before. For example, today I got a box I ordered that included Blazing World and Sculpin--I've already given a couple cans away to people who've never had either before.

I also like to "host" tasting sessions where, whether I'm the physical host or not, I will bring the majority of the beer for consumption. I did this just recently where I brought beers over to do a Deschutes Conflux "deconstructed" tasting. HOTD Fred and Adam, Deschutes Stoic (original) and Dissident and the Collaboration No. 1 (Conflux), which was a blend of all four beers that were then aged in barrels. The fun we all had going through and talking about the flavor profiles was far more valuable than whatever it cost me to procure those bottles.

i feel like you get out of this BA experience what you put in... I've given away a few beers to coworkers and friends. I'm waiting to start trading and including extras will be paramount for me. I've only been drinking beer for 6-8 months and many of the beers I have fallen for were given to me by others.

I'll have to say that I found alcohol - particularly alcohol whose enjoyment is shared - can make for some really good social bonding, too.

I recently had a couple of guys offer to send beer and not follow through - one even sent a message at one point saying 'I picked up a bottle of X for you, I'll be sending it this week' - and nothing... not complaining, but... wonder what I did to damage my beer karma so...

The more I share, the faster my turnaround is to restock. At times I enjoy the beer shopping and finding some new treasure to covet than actually drinking them...

I don't box up beer for UPS delivery but my entire beer larder is open to any guest.

Beer sharing is part of beer enjoyment, drinking alone all the time is just sad and it is cool when someone says "here, I got this xyz beer the other day…try one!".

I hear you, someone inadvertently brought me back a case of Deschutes Inversion IPA, man I hate IPA's so I gave the case away.

It was pretty damn tasty. I wish they had brewed up more of it. I couldn't find it when I went out to a store or two, so I lucked out with my co-worker. I'd have picked up a couple of sixers for sure.

I was less excited about the Southern Cape, but there's a bit of extra bitterness in it that I don't find palatable. Co-worker loved it, so I gave him another two bottles out of my six pack.

I bought a case of Heady Topper this weekend in Waterbury and drank the whole thing with my friends after the wedding we were at. I wanted to bring some home but was like "Fuck It, my friends will love this!"

I will be repaid in beer karma. I know this.
