I don't disagree with that at all, but at the same time, I don't feel like your first post should be a LIF entry. If I wanted to join a group specifically because they were inclusive and giving, I'd be embarrassed to do it by taking.

If that member, or any other, wants to join, great; do so by introducing yourself, tell us about yourself and where you're coming from (not just geographically); or, if that's too much, some are more introverted than others, do so by asking us what's going on. That's what I did when I joined the SWTFYW thread; I went in, and just asked "what is going on in here?" I got a little bit of prodding as a new guy, but ultimately was welcomed.

...and by the way, for my part at least the 'initaition' that SWTFYW newcomers are put through is a) mostly just joking around, and b) what is not joking around is a (warranted) precaution it is a strange group that a lot of people might not want any part of; it's only fair that newcomers know that going in.

I honestly don't believe that anyone there is in any way seriously trying to keep fresh blood from joining in; since I poked my head in less than 6 months ago, at least a half dozen others have become regular contributors.

While it wouldn't be my style, I'm ok with someone coming in with a LIF.

Mainly because it is my understanding that for every LIF you win you should be starting one within X days (my opinion is max of 90, if you aren't ready to do a LIF for some reason don't participate in one). In other words that is what the F in LIF is all about. So if we go by that scenario if by some chance a newbie wins he/she would be on the hook to do one themselves. What better way to introduce yourself.

I totally get that it is meant to be joking around however a newbie doesn't necessarily know that it is a joke. Easily misinterpreted as "you aren't welcome" which to your point isn't the case. I'm totally on board with joking around with people who are in on the joke as everyone laughs together.

Cool, a fellow CPA taker! I'm talking the first section in mid-October. I'm planning on taking one per quarter, so in January, April, and July. It's gonna be nuts for another year.

I'm kinda nuts because I'm in my late 30s and just doing it for a resume builder versus actually using it for public/private accounting. Probably not many people doing that.

Shirt size? Or are you gonna force your sender to do glassware?

No, but 5xl is, that's mine. ... typically that means glassware for me.

Should we have included if we had a preference to glass or shirt? I don't know if it makes a huge difference because any swag is awesome. But typically I'd prefer to receive a glass over a shirt. They are cheaper and everyone knows that drinking a brewery's beer from their own glass makes it taste better #properglassware.

I really wish I had more brewery shirts (especially polo), it's just so tough to find them in Homer Simpson size (I thought about it and yeah, that can be a thing now) ...frankly I really don't get why breweries wouldn't be better at having big dude size shirts, since that usually makes up a fair portion of their clientele. I'm about to start emailing breweries and asking if they can special order me their shirt in my size.

A few people have expressed interest in one over the other, if you guys want to either message me your preference or post it on here that's fine (I will pass it on to your sender). I actually like glassware too, but was also thinking a T-shirt is a lot easier to pack (and actually works as extra padding).

I will probably be at three breweries this week, if I find something in your size I will try and grab one for you. I was actually planning on grabbing some glassware, primarily because I don't know who my target will be yet and I don't know what size shirt to get.
