Terrapin Imperial Pumpkin Pie Porter

Doesn't really sound like it's worth tracking down anyway

 

It's a good beer, just another over extended hyped release from Terrapin. They wax it, and make it so limited even the bigger stores can't get much and people go berserk over it.

Plus, it's a pumpkin beer. In August/Sept, no less.

 

Found it in the triad of NC today

 

I got my hands on one and really enjoyed it. I'm not a fan of "pumpkin beers" in general but this one topped my very short list. It was thinner than I would have liked but it is a porter and not a stout so was expecting that. At $10 bucks it's not like they are ****** anyone on the price. Definitely worth seeking out and trying IMO.

 

Fixed that for you, otherwise I agree. It is what it is, decent Pumpkin beer, with a great aroma, a little less accurate on the flavors.

 

It has come and gone at TW in Viera

 

It did make it to Orlando but most stores only got 1 case. I ended up finding a pair sitting on the shelf at a TW in Jacksonville over the weekend. Looks like distro in FL has happened fully.

Had a case in the cooler at the Boca ABC on North Federal this past weekend, no limit.

 

Not the only store doing this, some in Tampa are following the trend

 

My thoughts exactly. I'm going to the store tomorrow to pick up some bourbon for a buddy. If he doesn't sell me the terrapin without me buying other stuff I don't want I'm walking away and never coming back.

It's my feeling these stores are buying so much of a brewery's beer they can't rotate the stock. The guy told me he had to order 4 cases of terrapin pumpkin head and 4 cases of Maggie's saison to get one case of the pumpkin porter, which is stupid on his part. Those two beers do not sell and will just sit there. I explained he shouldn't be forced to buy beer that'll sit on the shelf but he doesn't listen. Where I am from in lake county the knowledge of
Employees at stores is ridiculous. There is one store that has knowledgable people in lake county that is bottle shops(abc on Clermont has good people)...the rest are complete idiots.

 

Have some extra IPPP if anyone wants to work out a trade, cheers! And you need to take some Bud Light off my hands too.

 

That was the consensus this guy told me. Apparently whoever did goose island last year made him buy a case of each of the sisters to get bourbon county in.

Regardless, if I owned a shop I would at least try and get terrapin beer (or whoever the brewery is) that will sell or at least have a longer shelf life (wake n bake) rather than a mediocre saison that is not gonna sell in the fall and winter months.

 

That, and Maggie's just flat out...ain't that good. Pumpkinfest is a decent beer of its type, but even still, it is on clearance here usually, at Christmas time. That is crazy, but such are the games of distributors.

 

That was the case in GA, only the top premium accounts got IPPP. I didn't get any because I don't move ten cases of Hopsecutioner a week (small craft bottle shop), but the Kroger four miles away did. Ridiculous.

 

For curiosities sake did anyone ever see this hit the ABCs in Tampa?
