You would have to define killer and how long you are willing to drive. Best bets I know are Meulemans in Rawsonville about and hour and Manchester Discount Beverage in Manchester about a half and hour. Both very respectable but you won't find the Big 3 there. But plenty of other Options.
Bennington has two pretty good beer stores, one fills growlers- Bennington Beverage and The Smokers Den (both listed on BA). If you come in from Troy you will pass Hoosick St Beverage and they are excellent. Albany has some others. The ride into Bennington will provide better choices then Bennington itself. But the two shops there are ok.
The Beverage Den and Bennington Beverage Outlet are both decent shops. BBO gets fiddlehead cans frequently, and does growler fills. I know they are going to get a barrel of a new double IPA collaboration between Foley Bros and Brown's; it should be excellent. Northshire brewing in town does tastings and growler fills on Sat midday. I enjoy their Sicilian IPA brewed with oranges. Ramuntos and Pangea Lounge have the best taps in town - I saw a Northshire local hop IPA at Ramuntos that looked interesting. Madison's is worth a visit, but just expect ok beer. If you're coming in on Rt 7 hit Hoosic St Beverage in Troy (expensive but amazing selection). The Ruck in Troy and Man of Kent in Hoosic are also great pubs. Manchester Discount Bev and Meulemans have about the same offerings as the shops in Benn.
Hate to quibble but Manchester Beverage Depot is a level above it's Bennington counterparts IMHO. They just opened a Rumuntos in Brattleboro, wonder if they have the same great beer list. I third the Man of Kent. One of the best bars in America.
