Any news on how this is going to be organized? My first Zwanze (and first year living in Colorado!), so I'm excited / don't want to miss out. Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I can't find any information ... maybe because there isn't any? Gracias!

From the email I got when I asked if this was a ticketed event:

"I do not believe we will be selling tickets to this event, it will likely be a first come, first serve event with people lining up outside the Barrel Cellar door. We are still finalizing everything and will be announcing beers, etc. in the next couple of weeks"

From what I read about last years Zwanze, the first 140 or so people got a chance to drink actual Zwanze. After that there were kegs/bottles for sale of random Loons. I wish this was a ticketed event, would have made it alot more smooth.

Im also coming from out of state and would like to know what time to start lining up to get a guaranteed pour of Zwanze, can any locals help us out with the deets??

Although you don't have to purchase tickets for this event, the past two years tickets were handed out to those in line to guarantee you a pour of the zwanze. Regardless of what time you get there (the earlier, the better IMO) this will be the best bottle share you've ever been to. Bring some goods. Last year by the time zwanze was tapped I had already had my fill of whales & loons that I actually came home without even trying the zwanze. I'll be there handing out breakfast burritos, stop by and say hey!

Basically this. The major action happens between 8am-12pm while waiting in line... but it's kind of an 'unspoken/unofficial' bottle share in the parking lot.

Over the last two years though if all you want are the Zwanze just be in line by 11am or so, maybe 10:30am and you'll get a ticket (140 sounds right)... but don't quote me on that. There 'may' be bottles for sale as well if you get there after they hand out tickets. They typically will hand out tickets at 11:30pm, open doors at 12pm noon and 1pm is the toast (across the world, I think 9pm Brussells time).

Anyone heard/seen any more updates from CS? I am visiting from San Diego for my birthday and bringing you people some lovely SD brew to pop while in line. ISO = KevinLA's Burritos, FT = Alpine Nelson. Just want to be sure I'm in line to get a ticket for the toast.

Good deal. I'm gonna show up with my chrome bag full of ice and brews if anyone wants to say hello. Gonna stop at the source tomorrow and ask if anything has changed, though. Will keep you guys posted.

I showed up at about 8:45am last year and was roughly 20th in line (though by the time tickets were being handed out I was probably 40th due to some high grade cutsies). Bottle share was so good I didn't even try Zwanze.

I think the 6AM thing is probably more for people who are camping, grilling, and essentially "tailgating" the event more than anything else. The idea of waking up early enough to arrive at CS at 6AM is crazy to me, but I've done dumber things for college football games. My plan is just to head over once I'm awake and functional.

We are honored to once again be selected to host Zwanze Day! The 2014 festival and event will be another ticketed event and take place on Saturday, Sept. 20th at the Barrel Cellar (1441 W. 46th Ave., Unit 19). We will open the doors at 11:00 a.m. and start selling tickets for the Zwanze day event on a first-come, first-served basis.

**CASH ONLY FOR THE TICKETS SALES! All other sales are not cash only.**

Only the first 150 people will receive a commemorative Zwanze day glass, a pour of Zwanze, plus an additional Cantillon pour. An additional 150 people will also be admitted and be able to get the commemorative Zwanze day glass as well as a pour of your choice of Cantillon or Tilquin Geueze (But the Zwanze will already be spoken for).

There will be additional Cantillon and "other TBD" bottles available, so make it early as only the first 300 will make it in to the ticketed event and enjoy a day of Belgian Geueze and Crooked Stave sour beers!

As many of you know, Zwanze Day marks the release of a very special beer from Brasserie Cantillon in Brussels, Belgium - one of the oldest and most sought-after makers of Lambic and Geueze in the world. The 2014 Zwanze beer is Iris Grand Cru, an unblended, dry-hopped lambic aged with cherries. The beer, affectionately named "Cuvee Florian," was first blended to commemorate the 18th birthday of Cantillion brewer and blender Jean Van Roy's son, Florian Van Roy. To find out more about this special beer, click here: http://cantillon.be/br/3_21.

In addition to the keg of Cuvee Florian, we will also be pouring Iris, Gueuze, St. Gilloise, and Saint Lamvinus, plus a keg of Tilquin Geueze. We will also be tapping a few specialty Crooked Stave kegs we've been holding on too.

TICKET SALES ARE CASH ONLY and are as follows:
$20 CASH for 2014 Zwanze Day glass, Zwanze pour, and other Cantillion pour
$13 CASH for 2014 Zwanze Day glass, other Cantillion pour

All Crooked Stave beers outside of the ticket price will be $6 for a 6oz. pour and are NOT cash only, as we will take credit cards for those.

During the event, Street Frites will be on site offering food for purchase. Our taproom (3350 Brighton Blvd.) will be open regular hours on Saturday, Sept. 20th from Noon to 11 p.m. THERE WILL BE NO ZWANZE OR CANTILLON AVAILABLE AT THE TAPROOM AT 3350 Brighton Blvd.

We hope to see as many of our loyal fans and Cellar Reserve members at 2014 Zwanze Day!

    Cheers,
    Crooked Stave

The urge is strong to show up stupid early but I don't think that does me or anyone else any good, so i'm gonna try to get there reasonably early, but not super early.

So are the additional bottles for sale for on-site consumption only or can I bring them home?
