Yeah, that's what I said -- only you sounded about 643 times more intelligent than me, and actually know what you're talking about.

Yeah this is how I normally see growlers filled. I'm not super worried if this beer goes bad (though that would suck, it WAS free), as in that scenario... I still got a free growler out of it. Best case scenario I get to enjoy some dirtwolf on Friday. I've had dirtwolf on quite a few occasions so it's not like I'm missing out on trying something new. I honestly didn't expect my dad to come home with anything when I jokingly told him he better bring me something back when I let him take a few bottles of storm king with him haha

Mostly just that we replied at the same time  Your reply was plenty specific enough

    Sixterhood Trip #2....

Target has been randomly selected. Box is all packed up and will be sent out Monday.

Shipping North, but not directly North.

The 6-shipper box contains 8 beers. 6 brewed in Texas and 2 brewed in an adjoining state.

I vote for more hints... there's very little chance you'd be shipping south

True, true, but can't give it away so soon. Have to slow roll this a little bit to try to keep the suspense up. :stuck_out_tongue:

How many people, in total, signed up for the Sixterhood?

If it's filled only half-way, it will last less than 24 hours, probably 12 at most. It's not freshness, it's carbonation (freshness is eventually an issue, but not nearly as fast as carb). So if you like flat beer, you'll be fine. If not, it's probably trash by the time you wake up.

The alternative, though from the keg is the norm, is counterpressure, particularly the PEGAS System, where the keg is filled in the absence of oxygen, preventing oxidation and loss of carbonation, I've heard of them lasting months this way (at this point, freshness is a definite issue unless it's a stout or some such).

When being filled off a keg, there are things that can be done to help such as purging with CO2 to minimize oxygen, and affixing a hose to the tap so that it fills from the bottom up to prevent loss of carbonation during the fill.

I had twelve people sign up. I know there is at least one other person that is interested but is waiting for the box to get out of Texas before he jumps in.

As we get farther along with the Sixterhood I think we should stay away from publicizing the number that signed up so that when we get down to 1-3 people there is still the element of surprise for the target. But since we are just starting out I think your question is a good one and will provide everyone with an idea of the general overall number of people interested.

    You did it right.

Just got back from Baltimore and meeting @heystevec at a great bar in Fells Point. Another outstanding meet up with a great BAer.

I've got a box waiting for me downstairs AND some beer arrived on my porch while I was gone. Stay tuned.

I wish, but I've got too many trades already ongoing.

On behalf of a buddy, however, I'll ask you (and anyone else listening): Is George T Stagg a bottle (of bourbon) you can get a hold of? Since lots of guys, especially the ones in KY, seem to be into both beer and bourbon, I offered to ask around for him.

Don't know much about Bourbons with the exception of where my beer has been aging. A quick inquiry has revealed that the only George T. Stagg item I can get around here is a tequila that has been aging in those barrels. Sorry buddy.

You can but it does not show up often. It is quite prized around here and still not too crazy expensive. If your friend is looking for bourbon that you can actually find and taste quite good, go with Weller (12 or cask strength preferably )
Let me know if I can help with this.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll pass it along. He's fairly well-versed, so I know it was that specific bottle he's looking for, should I take that response to mean that no, you would not be able to get a bottle?

Let me look into it. It might be possible. I will know for sure by the end of the week.

Sounds good, thanks. Don't go too far out of your way though, it's not even for me it's for a buddy at work.

And one last minor thing -- if there is anybody in here who you have already BIFFed or been BIFFed by, and you haven't already given me that info, please do so. I want to be extra sure I don't drive any duplicates (although if I do, let me know as soon as you get your target and I'll fix it).

Got it. Hopefully, it will work out. I am personally looking for the release of a certain Pappy in a few months.
