I am a huge fan of Kane. Their IPA is a top 5 beer for me.

Really Happy to see all the high praise for Kane and Carton here. It doesn't hurt that I'm about 15-20 minutes from both of them!

Kane has not made a bad beer yet. To be honest they haven't even made a beer that can be considered as low as average. Everything they've made has been a home run or in the case of Overhead, a legendary beer.

I have only tried their Lager and it is horrible. Even my wife thinks so. I have 4 left from a six pack which I am going to have to dump! This is a rear event.

I haven't had a chance to check out the new kids on the block, but I have always liked Flying Fish.

As far as beers I can get, FF Exit Series beers are about the best I've had. I'd love to try Carton & Kane, but in south Jersey we're SOL.

Kane for sure, Carton is very good as well. Most FF I've tried hasn't been great, and River Horse is just bad. One sip of Kane IPA and faith in NJ brews went up.

I finallly got to try to Kane IPA, its nothing mind blowing but it is a great ipa, why do they have no bottling or canning plans in the future is my main wonder

Booo to those of you down on River Horse. I have since tried one Carton beer and one Kane beer--Monkey chased the weasel and Afterglow--thanks to some generous friends, and I am happy to report they were both great! But River Horse still puts out great stuff too. Love Tripel Horse-and their Oatmeal Stout is out of this world!

Start up breweries have tons of costs and canning/botteing lines are often in future plans. Case in point I just visited the new Captain Lawrence brewery today and they finally have a real bottling line to keep a fresh supply of 6packs in their rotation. If anyone hasn't been the new place is great and they can now sell 120z beers to be consumed on premisis.

I know Kane has already bottled a beer called Malus, simply put it's a Belgian Strong Ale made with some local apple cider, someone from the brewery can give way more details when this one is ready. I know Kane also has plans on bottling a barrel aged imperial stout that they have had sitting nicely for many months now in barrels.

I guess what I'm saying is give them time and hopefullly you'll see them expand to bottling or canning once they "can".

Hard to comment on others because they have no distribution. I will take Flying Fish over River Horse any day for the price.

Kane with Carton right behind them, without a doubt. The others aren't really even close to be honest.

Agreed. I thought Kane was way ahead until I tasted Carton's Berliner last night, but now it's closer between the two than I thought.

each of them do different things for me. kane is getting really into experimentation, one-offs and taking risks left and right (ie - hibiscus port omna, mole driftline) while still producing a solid line of staple beers.

carton is pumping out a bunch of delicious, more sessionable beers - if they were ever to can or bottle boat i'd be there to buy a case on the first day. i havent had the berliner yet but my friend has a growler he's opening up tonight.
