MBC beers are too expensive. Completely.

Zoe rules. Mean Old Tom is best with a few months on it.

Peeper is awesome. It shouldn't be sitting on shelves...

What is your cut off where it stops being worth every cent? $11/16.9oz of IPA? $14/16.9oz?

I'd rather have a 16 oz can of Heady Topper for $3.50.

The bottles were great to try a couple times, but I would find it difficult to put them into a regular rotation. Are they on-tap on a fairly regular basis in the state of Maine ?

At the right places, yes. Peeper is a big time local hit and can be found at various restaurants and bars. The others are usually only found at the typical beer bars.

Is there anyone that perhaps wants to work out a trade? Or should I take that offer to ISO:FT?

Great beer, we usually see them for around 5.50-6.50 in Northern VT, sometimes more depending on the spot

Really? I mean, I love MBC beers and am happy to pick up one of each to try, but let's figure this out.

    Peeper, a 5.5% APA, is their cheapest offering at about $6 per 16.9oz bottle. That translates into $.355/oz. $.355/oz = $17 for a 4-pack of 12oz bottles, or $25.56 for a sixpack.

If you don't think $25+ for a sixer of a pale ale is overpriced, then...

Had Peeper while on vacation in Maine this June. Sorry for me it was a drain pour. Insipid brown murky liquid that had zero complexity.

    Cheers.....

Does everyone pour the yeast in for these beers? I poured it all in for Lunch the first time, and it was good but not mind blowing. Tried slow pouring "Mo" which is the next one I bought from these guys, and it was superb. Then I poured the yeast in the last few ounces, and while good, not as amazing as the first pour.

I don't do a lot of math when i'm buying beer. I see your point, I just don't look at it the same way. I'd love to drink their beers by the six pack but I appreciate the fact that it's a treat to enjoy a bottle of Zoe and yes, it IS worth every cent.

Zoe and Lunch are the only ones worth the price. And I still only buy one bottle every few months or so.

Picked up two bottles of Lunch yesterday (just over the border in Westchester County) ... It's still a fantastic beer, but overpriced. I buy it when it's around ... which is not all that frequently ...

Maine recently added two more fermenters, so stuff like Lunch should be available more frequently now hopefully (though still rotating, so the market won't exactly be flooded).

Seriously - I love MBC beers. (Well, at least Peeper, Zoe, and MO) But they have got to be about the most expensive beers for the style in the country. The fact that I even buy them on occasion is a testament to how good they are, but I'd probably buy 10x as much if the price were reasonable (about 50% off).

If Jack's Abby, an even newer brewery, can figure out how to sell 4-packs of 500ml beers for $10, then MBC should be able to figure it out as well.

Completely agree. And I would say I buy Jack's Abby beers about 10x as much as MBC.
